Ann Newmarch
Ann Foster Newmarch (9 June 1945 – 13 January 2022) , known as "Annie", was a South Australian painter, printmaker, sculptor and academic, with an international reputation, known for her community service to art, social activism and feminism. She co-founded the Progressive Art and the Women's Art Movement (WAM) in Adelaide, and is especially known for her iconic 1978 colour screenprint piece titled ''Women Hold Up Half the Sky!''. Early life and education Ann Foster Newmarch was born on 9 June 1945 in Adelaide, South Australia. She graduated with a teaching diploma from the Western Teachers College in 1966 after three years' attendance there, after which she studied philosophy and psychology at Flinders University in Adelaide for a year. She spent 1968 teaching art, at Croydon and Mitcham Girls High Schools, and became a lecturer at the South Australian School of Art in 1969, continuing there until 2000. Major-General Sir Oliver Richardson Newmarch (1834–1920) was a senior British Indian Army officer who served as Military Secretary to the India Office. Rosa Newmarch
Rosa Harriet Newmarch (18 December 18579 April 1940) was an English poet and writer on music. Biography Rosa Harriet Jeaffreson was born in Leamington in 1857, the maternal granddaughter of 19th-century dramatist James Kenney. She settled in London in 1880, when she began contributing articles to various literary journals. In 1883, she married Henry Charles Newmarch, thereafter using her married name in her professional work. Beginning in 1897 she did a great deal of research on Russian music, making many visits to Russia and working at the Imperial Public Library of Saint Petersburg under the supervision of Vladimir Stassov. She became one of the first English critics to champion Russian music. After 1915 she performed a similar service for Slovak music. From 1907 she edited the Living Masters of Music book series for John Lane. From 1908 until 1920 she wrote program notes for the New Queen's Hall Orchestra, and for Prom concerts. Sally Newmarch
Sally Newmarch (born 2 June 1975), now known as Sally Callie, is an Australian former rower – a four-time national champion, a medal winning national representative who competed at World Rowing Championships from 1993 to 2004 and a three time Olympian. Club and state rowing Newmarch attended Annesley College in Adelaide where she took up rowing. Her senior club rowing was from the Torrens Rowing Club in Adelaide. From 1993 to 1998 she was selected as South Australia's single sculls representative to contest the Nell Slatter Trophy at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships although in 1996 she was selected but did not start. In 1999 Newmarch changed down to lightweight status and at state level was then selected in South Australian lightweight quads contesting the Victoria Cup at the Interstate Regatta. She stroked that quad in 1999 and in 2000 to a Victoria Cup victory. In 2003 and 2004 she crewed further South Australian quads to Victoria Cup wins. ...

William Newmarch
William Newmarch (28 January 182023 March 1882) was an English banker, economist and statistician. Life Born at Thirsk, Yorkshire, Newmarch went to school in York; as a young man, he held posts as a clerk there. A clerk for a stamp distributor, he moved on to the Yorkshire Fire and Life Office, and then to the banking house Leatham, Few, and Co., in Wakefield (1843–1846). He then moved to London and worked for three financial institutions: * the Agra Bank (1846–1851) * secretary to the Globe Insurance Company (1851–1862) * chief officer in the banking-house of Glyn, Mills & Co. (1862–1881) Newmarch took an active part in the Royal Statistical Society, of which he was one of the honorary secretaries, editor of its journal, and President (1869–1871), and the Political Economy Club.
