Route 333, also known as Fogo Island Road, is a north–south highway on Fogo Island in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is the primary highway on the island, connecting all of the island's communities with the MV Veteran ferry, which in turn connects them to mainland Newfoundland and the rest of Canada. The highway is one of only two 3-digit highways in the province that use the same number, the other being Route 222. Route description Route 333 begins in Stag Harbour at the island's ferry terminal on the western edge of town. It heads east to pass through town before leaving and winding its along the southern coast for several kilometres. Change Islands is an outport community in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The community spans two small islands of the same name which lie off the northeast coast of the island of Newfoundland between Notre Dame Bay and the Labrador Sea. The community of Change Islands is located primarily on the larger South Island, today hosting approximately 184 residents, though most of the public buildings are on the North Island. Fogo is an outport community on Fogo Island in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It was previously incorporated as a town prior to becoming part of the Town of Fogo Island through an amalgamation in 2011. History The second largest community on the island, Fogo may also be the location of the island's first permanent settlement, which took place in the early 18th century, though it is unknown which exact area of Fogo Island hosted the first European settlers. Some historians feel Tilting Harbour might have been the first settlement, owing to its sheltered harbour and close proximity to fishing grounds, although some local legends say that an English settlement was in place at Fogo (town) as early as 1680, this is highly unlikely. Route 334, also known as Joe Batt's Arm Road, is a north–south highway on Fogo Island in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It serves as the only roadway access to the eastern half of the island. Route description Route 334 begins in Fogo Island Central at an intersection with Route 333 (Fogo Island Road). It heads northeast to wind its along the island’s northern coastline to pass through the communities of Shoal Bay, Barr'd Islands, and Joe Batt's Arm before turning southeast and more inland for several kilometres.
