Newcastle 500
The Newcastle 500 (known for sponsorship reasons as the Thrifty Newcastle 500) is an annual motor racing event for Supercars, held at the Newcastle Street Circuit in Newcastle, New South Wales since 2017. The event has not been held since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and was due to return to the calendar as the first event of the 2022 season, until it was again postponed due to concerns over the Omicron variant of COVID-19. Format The event is staged over a three-day weekend, from Friday to Sunday. Two forty-minute practice sessions are held on Friday. Saturday features a twenty-minute qualifying session which decides the grid positions for the following 250 kilometre race. Fabian Coulthard
Fabian "Fabs" Coulthard (born 28 July 1982) is a British-born New Zealand professional race car driver, currently competing in the Repco Supercars Championship, driving as an endurance co-driver for Chaz Mostert with Walkinshaw Andretti United. Fabian is a second cousin of former Formula One driver David Coulthard. Early career Coulthard was born in Burnley, England but raised in Auckland, New Zealand. He started his career in karts before moving into Formula Ford. He competed in the Formula Ford support races at the 2002 Australian Grand Prix, winning the Alan Jones Trophy with two wins and a second place in the three races. The 2018 Coates Hire Newcastle 500 was a motor racing event for the Supercars Championship, held on the weekend of 23 to 25 November 2018. 2017 Coates Hire Newcastle 500
The 2017 Coates Hire Newcastle 500 was a motor racing event for the Supercars Championship, held on the weekend of 24 to 26 November 2017. The event was held on the Newcastle Street Circuit in Newcastle East, New South Wales and consisted of two races, 250 kilometres in length. It was the fourteenth and final event in the 2017 Supercars Championship and hosted Races 25 and 26 of the season. James Warburton (born 1970) is an Australian businessman who is currently Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Seven West Media. Business career Television executive Warburton had early executive roles at McCann-Erickson, DDB Worldwide and Hyundai Motor Company in the 1980s and 1990s. Warburton became Managing Director of Universal McCann in 2000, winning and retaining multiple significant government and corporate contracts over the following three years.
