1998 Oceania Junior Men's Handball Championship
The 1998 Oceania Junior Men's Handball Championship, was the first official competition for junior men's national handball teams from Oceania. It was held from December 11–12, 1998 in Mittagong, New South Wales, Australia. It also acted as the qualifying competition for the 1999 IHF Men's Junior World Championship, securing one Vacancy for the World Championship. Australia and New Zealand played a two-game series to determine the winner. Australia was the winner, but decided to defer its entry to the World Cup and New Zealand took their place. Team Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The sport is usually played indoors, but outdoor variants exist in the forms of field handball, Czech handball (which were more common in the past) and beach handball. 2010 Oceania Men's Handball Challenge Trophy
The 2014 Men's Oceania Handball Challenge Trophy was held in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia between December 7 and 17, 2010. The competition participants were defending champions from 1998 and host Australia, and 1998 runners up New Zealand. New to the championship were Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, and Samoa. The 2014 Men's Oceania Handball Challenge Trophy was held at the ASB Sports Centre in Wellington, New Zealand between 8 and 13 December 2014. The competition participants were defending champions Australia, host New Zealand, regulars Vanuatu and Cook Islands. The 2017 Men's Oceania Handball Challenge Trophy was held at the Bluesky Sports Arena, Rarotonga, Cook Islands in between 31 July and 6 August 2017. The competition participants were defending champions Tahiti, Australia, host Cook Islands, New Zealand, New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea. Defending Champions Tahiti won over New Caledonia.
