It is currently represented by Democratic Party (United States), Democrat Carmen De La Rosa, who took office in 2022. Ydanis Rodríguez
Ydanis Rodríguez (born June 18, 1965) is the Commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation and a politician who formerly represented the 10th district on the New York City Council. A Democrat who was first elected to the City Council in 2009, Rodríguez was re-elected in 2013 and 2017. He serves as Chair of the Transportation Committee. Rodríguez is known for his November 2011 arrest at an Occupy Wall Street rally, and was profiled for the act in Time's 2011 Person of the Year issue. 2021 New York City Council Election
The 2021 New York City Council election were held on November 2, 2021. The primary elections were held on June 22, 2021. There were several special elections for seats vacated in 2020 and early 2021; these special elections were the first to use ranked-choice voting in city council elections after it was approved by a ballot question in 2019. Due to redistricting after the 2020 Census, candidates also ran for two-year terms instead of four-year terms for the first time, stemming from the New York City Charter overhaul in 1989. New York's 13th congressional district is a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives in New York City, represented by Adriano Espaillat. The district is the smallest congressional district by area in the U.S. The 13th district comprises Upper Manhattan and parts of the West Bronx.
