State Road 11 (NM 11) is a north–south road that travels from the United States–Mexico border crossing in Columbus to Deming. Route description NM 11 begins at Mexican Federal Highway 2 spur (Fed. 2 spur) at the border crossing with Mexico in Columbus. In Columbus NM 11 intersects with NM 9. The road proceeds in a northern direction toward the city of Deming through largely rural landscape. The northern terminus of NM 11 is at Florida Street in Deming where it continues north as Cody Road and then South Gold Avenue to an intersection with I-10 Bus. History NM 11 was one of the original numbered routes during the formation of the New Mexico State Highway System in 1912, running from NM 4 in Deming north to NM 43 and NM 12 in Mogollon via Silver City. Mogollon, New Mexico
Mogollon, also called the Mogollon Historic District, is a former mining town located in the Mogollon Mountains in Catron County, New Mexico, United States. Located east of Glenwood and Alma, it was founded in the 1880s at the bottom of Silver Creek Canyon to support the gold and silver mines in the surrounding mountains. The "Little Fannie" mine became the most important employer for the town. During the 1890s, Mogollon had a transient population of between 3,000 and 6,000 miners. Because of its isolation, it had a reputation as one of the wildest mining towns in the West. Luna, New Mexico
Luna is a census-designated place in northwestern Catron County, New Mexico, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 158. It is situated on the San Francisco River and U.S. Route 180, east of the Arizona border and northwest of Reserve, the Catron county seat. Demographics History In the 19th century Luna was part of the extensive lands of Don Salomon Luna, and the valley was used for sheep ranching. It briefly was an outlaw hide-away, but was settled by Mormon ranchers in 1883 and subject to Chiricahua Apache attacks until the surrender of Geronimo. The town was named after Don Salomon Luna. The post office was opened in 1886; Education It is in the Reserve Independent School District. Silver City is a town in Grant County, New Mexico, United States. It is the county seat and the home of Western New Mexico University. As of the 2010 census the population was 10,315. New Mexico State Road 12
New Mexico State Road 12 (NM 12) is a primarily west–east state road in western New Mexico. The road is long and runs from U.S. Route 180 (US 180) west of Reserve to US 60 in Datil. NM 12 is located entirely within Catron County. The road's original alignment ran south from its western terminus to near Mule Creek, but this section was later removed.
