New Juaben South (Ghana Parliament Constituency)
The New Juaben South constituency is in the Eastern region of Ghana. It was created prior to the 2004 Ghanaian general election. The current member of Parliament for the constituency is Michael Okyere Baafi of the New Patriotic Party. He was first elected in the 2020 Ghanaian general election. Members of Parliament Michael Okyere Baafi was elected on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 Ghanaian general election where he won by a majority of 47,862. New-Juaben Municipal District
New Juaben Municipal District is a former district that was located in Eastern Region, Ghana. Originally created as a municipal district assembly in 1988. However on 1 November 2017 (effective 15 March 2018), it was split out into two new municipal districts: New Juaben South Municipal District (capital: Koforidua) and New Juaben North Municipal District (capital: Effiduase). The municipality was located in the central part of Eastern Region and had Koforidua as its capital town. Geography New Juaben Municipal District fell within Eastern Region of Ghana. New Juaben Municipality covered an estimated area of 110 square kilometers constituting 0.57% of the total land area of Eastern Region. The Eastern Region is located in south Ghana and is one of the sixteen administrative regions of Ghana. Eastern region is bordered to the east by the Lake Volta, to the north by Bono East Region and Ashanti region, to the west by Ashanti region, to the south by Central region and Greater Accra Region. Michael Okyere Baafi is a Ghanaian politician and businessman who was appointed Executive Secretary of the Ghana Free Zones Board in 2017. and resigned in 2021 following his election as the Member of parliament for the New Juaben South (Ghana parliament constituency). General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2020. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was re-elected in the first round after securing a majority of the votes. General elections were held in Ghana on Friday 7 December 2012 to elect a president and members of Parliament in 275 electoral constituencies. Owing to the breakdown of some biometric verification machines, some voters could not vote, and voting was extended to Saturday 8 December 2012.
