Chongming District
Chongming District () is northernmost district of the provincial-level municipality of Shanghai. Chongming consists of three low-lying inhabited alluvial islands at the mouth of the Yangtze north of the Shanghai peninsula: Chongming, Changxing, and Hengsha. Following its massive expansion in the 20th century, Chongming is now the 2nd-largest island administered by the People's Republic of China and the 2nd-largest in Greater China, after Hainan. Chongming does not, however, administer all of the island: owing to its continual expansion from sediment deposited by the Yangtze, it has merged with formerly separate islands and now includes Jiangsu province's pene-exclave townships of Haiyong and Qilong. Nanhui New City
Nanhui New City () is a planned city located in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai, China. It was formerly called Lingang New City (临港新城) until it was renamed in April 2012. Construction began in 2003 and is scheduled to be completed in 2020, with the German architecture company Gerkan, Marg and Partners leading the project. The project is estimated to have cost $4.5 billion. The city is aimed to house 450,000 to 800,000 residents while attracting 10 million annual tourists. Location The site is located at the tip of the peninsula between the Yangtze and the Qiantang rivers on Hangzhou Bay. It is approximately 60 kilometers southeast of downtown Shanghai. Maruyama, Chiba
was a town located in Awa District, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. As of August 1, 2004, the town had an estimated population of 5,780 and a density of 131 persons per km2. The total area was 44.11 km2. Geography Maruyama was located at the southeast end of Chiba Prefecture, in an inland area of the southern Bōsō Peninsula, with a small shoreline facing the Pacific Ocean. The town had a temperate maritime climate with hot, humid summers and mild, cool winters. Pacific City is a census-designated place (CDP) and unincorporated community in Tillamook County, Oregon, United States. The population was 1,076 at the 2019 census. History In 1845, Mr. Johnson, a cook on an English ship sailing along the Columbia River, deserted and traveled down the Willamette Valley. Establishing a land claim in Champoeg, he began removing brush and that summer set off a burn to clear debris. The Champoeg Fire got out of control and spread eastward. Unfortunately, the wind then reversed direction and strengthened, blowing the blaze around the previous burn and fanning it into the dry Coast Range, where it burned in the Yamhill basin for weeks, consuming of old growth forest – the largest such area destroyed in a single forest fire in the United States.
