New Byth
New Byth is a small inland planned village in the Banff and Buchan committee area of Aberdeenshire, Scotland, that lies a few miles northeast of Cuminestown. It was founded in 1763 by the then Laird of Byth, James Urquhart. The village has few facilities, the former primary school having closed in 2005, followed by the Post Office in 2006, and the village pub in 2008. There are two former church buildings, the larger previously affiliated to the Church of Scotland (1857, A & W Reid) and now derelict, the smaller associated with the United Free Church of Scotland until 1929 and now owned by a community association which hires it out as a general-purpose hall. The village had an active branch of the Scottish Women's Rural Institute for 50 years to 2011, when it merged with the Monquhitter branch. Banff And Buchan (UK Parliament Constituency)
Banff and Buchan is a constituency of the House of Commons, located in the north-east of Scotland within the Aberdeenshire council area. It elects one Member of Parliament at least once every five years using the first-past-the-post system of voting. The seat has been held by David Duguid of the Scottish Conservatives since 2017; until then the Scottish National Party (SNP) had held the seat since 1987, with the then First Minister of Scotland Alex Salmond representing the seat until 2010 and Eilidh Whiteford until 2017. Constituency profile A mostly rural constituency, it takes in the towns of Fraserburgh, Peterhead and Turriff, and the main industries are fishing and tourism. It takes its name from the County of Aberdeen which has substantially different boundaries. Aberdeenshire or the County of Aberdeen ( sco, Coontie o Aiberdeen, gd, Siorrachd Obar Dheathain) is a historic county and registration county of Scotland. The area of the county, excluding the city of Aberdeen itself, is also a lieutenancy area. Banffshire and Buchan Coast (Gaelic: ''Siorrachd Bhanbh agus Oirthir Bhùchainn'') is a constituency of the Scottish Parliament ( Holyrood) covering parts of the council areas of Aberdeenshire and Moray. It elects one Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) by the first past the post method of election. It is one also of ten constituencies in the North East Scotland electoral region, which elects seven additional members, in addition to ten constituency MSPs, to produce a form of proportional representation for the region as a whole.
