New Brunswick Route 465
Route 465 is an long north-east secondary highway in the northwest portion of New Brunswick, Canada. The route's southern terminus starts at the intersection of Route 126 in Coal Branch heading north-east into the community of Clairville. The road follows the Richibucto River north entering the community of Beersville then intersects with Route 470 near Fords Mills. The road then heads north-west crossing the Richibucto River passing the community of Cails Mills then heads west. Following the Richibucto River on the South bank, the road ends at the community of Smiths Corner at the intersection of Route 116. Coal Branch is a Canadian unincorporated community, located in Kent County, New Brunswick. The community is situated in southeastern New Brunswick, to the northwest of Moncton. Coal Branch is located mainly at the intersection of New Brunswick Route 126 and New Brunswick Route 465 on the Coal Branch River. Coal Branch is a tributary of the Richibucto River. History In 1898 it was a farming and lumbering community with a population of 500. In 1898 Coal Branch was a station on the Intercolonial Railway and a farming and lumbering settlement with a population of 100. A post office existed there until 1970. The Coal Branch River was once the site of coal mining operations with the Beersville Coal and Railway Company. New Brunswick Route 126
Route 126 is a North/South provincial highway in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. The road runs from Route 117 intersection in Miramichi. The road has a length of approximately 121 kilometres, and services small, otherwise isolated rural communities. In these areas, the highway is often unofficially referred to as "Main Street." The road parallels the New Brunswick East Coast Railway directly to the east. When the highway enters Moncton it changes to Ensley Drive, then Mountain Road. Clairville is a community in Weldford Parish, New Brunswick, located 5.34 km NE of Coal Branch, on the road to Jailletville on Route 465. It was once called Hawk Ridge or New Lorne Settlement and some claim it was renamed Clairville for an early settler, Clairville Price who was a Post Master there 1905–1958, however, others believe it may have been named for the McLeary family who originally came from Scotland and settled in that location. Beersville is a small community in Weldford Parish located 3.92 km SSE of Fords Mills and was named for John A. Beers (1860–1951) The community had a Post Office from 1900 to 1965 and in 1904 Beersville was a station on the Intercolonial Railway and a farming settlement with 1 post office, 1 store, 1 sawmill, 1 church and a population of 100. At one point it was a part of Emerson, at another, Emerson was a separate community but the place name was removed and the name is now honoured in the area by a road through Beersville called Emerson Road. Emerson was possibly named for Henry Robert Emerson (1853–1914), the Premier of New Brunswick from 1897 to 1900 and in 1904 Emerson was a farming settlement with 1 post office. Route 470 is an long west–east secondary highway in the northwest portion of New Brunswick, Canada. The route's eastern terminus starts at the intersection of Route 465, west of Fords Mills. The road crosses the St. Nicholas River heading north-east into the community of Clairville. The road then crosses the Coal Branch River then enters the community of Fords Mills where it intersects with Route 510 then continues east through the community of Pine Ridge at the intersection of Route 490. The road here follows the West Branch River on the north bank as the road begins to travel north east through the communities of Ford Bank and West Branch.
