Alexander Yaroslavich Nevsky (russian: Александр Ярославич Невский; ; 13 May 1221 – 14 November 1263) served as Prince of Novgorod (1236–40, 1241–56 and 1258–1259), Grand Prince of Kiev (1236–52) and Grand Prince of Vladimir (1252–63) during some of the most difficult times in Kievan Rus' history. Commonly regarded as a key figure of medieval Rus', Alexander was a grandson of Vsevolod the Big Nest and rose to legendary status on account of his military victories over German and Swedish invaders. Nevskoye (russian: Невское) is a residential area in Leningradsky District of Kaliningrad, Russia. It was formerly known by its German language names Kummerau and Cummerau as first a suburb of and then a quarter of Königsberg, Germany, located northeast of the city center. History Kummerau was founded in 1336 by the Bishopric of Samland as a German village; all surrounding villages at the time were inhabited by Old Prussians. In the 18th century Kummerau was administered from Kalthof. By the 20th century Kummerau was connected to Rothenstein to the northwest by Rothensteiner Straße and connected to Devau to the south by Kummerauer Straße. The village was incorporated into the city of Königsberg in 1927. ''Alexander Nevsky'' (russian: italic=yes, Александр Невский) was a large screw frigate of the Russian Imperial Navy. The ship was designed as part of a challenge being offered by the Russian Empire to the Royal Navy, but was lost in a shipwreck in 1868 while Grand Duke Alexei, son of Tsar Alexander II, was aboard. History ''Alexander Nevsky'' was a screw frigate of 5,100 tons ( bm) and mounting 51 smoothbore cannon, making her a large vessel for her class. The Order of Alexander Nevsky ( ''orden Alexandra Nevskogo'') is an order of merit of the Russian Federation named in honour of saint Alexander Nevsky (1220–1263) and bestowed to civil servants for twenty years or more of highly meritorious service. It was originally established by the Soviet Union as a military honour during World War II, more precisely by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of July 7, 1942. Nevsky String Quartet (Quinten Quartet, until 1998) is a string quartet based in St. Petersburg, Russia. They are noted for their award-winning performances of Russian music and their performances of contemporary music. History and Repertoire The Quartet, originally named the Quinten-Quartet, was founded in 1995 by students of St. Petersburg Conservatory with intensive assistance of Gleb Nikitin (dean of Orchestral Department). The idea of creation belonged to Vladimir Bistritsky (viola player). Other members of Quartet became 3-year students: Tatiana Razoumova (1st violin) and Dmitry Khrytchev (cello). Nevsky Pyatachok (russian: Не́вский пятачо́к) is the name of the Neva Bridgehead 50 km east south-east of Leningrad and 15 km south of Shlisselburg. It was the site of one of the most critical and costly campaigns during the Siege of Leningrad from September 1941 until May 1943 to reopen land communications with the city during the German siege. The Russian word ''pyatachok'' means a five-kopeck coin, or (by way of a metaphor) a very small area.
