State Route 399 (SR 399) is an state highway in Pershing County, Nevada. It connects Eagle-Picher Mine to Lovelock, the nearest town. Route description SR 399's west terminus is at the entrance to Eagle-Picher Mine, which mines diatomite. SR 399 continues northeast and intersects Seven Troughs Road. SR 399 goes southwest on Seven Troughs Road until it meets SR 854, where it becomes Pitt Road. Pitt Road continues east until it meets North Meridian Road/ SR 398 north of Lovelock. Lovelock, Nevada
Lovelock is the county seat of Pershing County, Nevada, United States, in which it is the only incorporated city. It is the namesake of a nearby medium-security men's prison and a Cold War-era gunnery range. Formerly a stop for settlers on their way to California and later a train depot, the town's economy remains based on farming, mining and increasingly on tourism. History The area in which the township of Lovelock was to be established first came to prominence as a midpoint on the Humboldt Trail to California. According to an 1849 description of what were then called the Big Meadows, "This marsh for three miles is certainly the liveliest place that one could witness in a lifetime. Pershing County, Nevada
Pershing County is a county in the U.S. state of Nevada. As of the 2020 census, the population was 6,650. Its county seat is Lovelock. The county was named after army general John J. Pershing (1860–1948). It was formed from Humboldt County in 1919, and the last county to be established in Nevada. The Black Rock Desert, location for the annual Burning Man event, is partially in the county. The county is listed as Nevada Historical Marker 17. The marker is at the courthouse in Lovelock. Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of , of which is land and (0.5%) is water. The tallest and most topographically prominent mountain in Pershing County is Star Peak at 9,840 ft (3,000 m). The company started in 1842 as the White Lead Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. Diatomaceous earth (), diatomite (), or kieselgur/kieselguhr is a naturally occurring, soft, siliceous sedimentary rock that can be crumbled into a fine white to off-white powder. It has a particle size ranging from more than 3 μm to less than 1 mm, but typically 10 to 200 μm. The route comprised a portion of former Nevada State Route 48, State Route 48. Route description State Route 854 begins northwest of Lovelock at an intersection with Pitt Road/Eagle Picher Mine Road (SR 399 (NV), SR 399). From there, the two-lane highway travels south along Lone Mountain Road for about , passing a local cemetery. The route then turns east and heads through farmlands towards downtown Lovelock. Entering the city limits at Jamestown Road, the road now follows Western Avenue through residential areas. Route description State Route 398 begins at interchange 106 with Interstate 80 (and concurrent U.S. Route 95) near the center of Lovelock.
