Nevada State Route 232
State Route 232 (SR 232) is a state highway in Elko County, Nevada. It covers the majority of Clover Valley Road south of Wells. Route description State Route 232 begins in the Clover Valley on Clover Valley Road about south of Steeles Creek, at the north end of Elko County Route 782. From there, the route travels northward through the desert valley, somewhat paralleling U.S. Route 93 (US 93) to the east, as it traverses near the base of the East Humboldt Range. SR 232 serves a number of ranches and crosses several creeks as it treks northward through Clover Valley. After rounding the east side of Signal Hill, the highway turns eastward. The route comes to an end at a junction with US 93 about south of Wells. History SR 232 was designated on July 1, 1976. Wells, Nevada
Wells is a small city in Elko County, in northeast Nevada in the western United States. The population was 1,292 at the 2010 census. Wells is located at the junction of Interstate 80 and U.S. Route 93, approximately east of Elko and is part of the Elko micropolitan area. History The site of Wells began as a place called Humboldt Wells along the trail to California. It was subsequently founded as a railroad town along the original Transcontinental Railroad, and was once a stopover for passenger trains. The Humboldt River has its source in springs and a swampy area just west of the city that today is called Humboldt Wells. In the late 19th century, Humboldt Wells was burning down, and in a frantic plea for help, a telegraph was sent that said, "Wells is burning". Elko County is a county in the northeastern corner of Nevada, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 53,702. Its county seat is Elko. The county was established on March 5, 1869, from Lander County. The Clover Valley of Nevada, is a 37-mile (60 km) long valley located in central-southeast Elko County. Wells, Nevada lies at its north end, on I-80. Clover Valley lies at the east flank of the mostly north-trending East Humboldt Range, which supplies numerous creeks to the north valley; the mountain forests supplying the water are a section of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. East Humboldt Range
The East Humboldt Range is a mountain range in Elko County, Nevada, United States. It is located along the eastern edge of the upper watershed of the Humboldt River, which flows to the southwest from its source just north of the range. The range reaches a maximum elevation of atop Hole in the Mountain Peak. Most of the range is included within the Ruby Mountains Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. In 1989, the United States Congress passed the Nevada Wilderness Protection Act establishing over of the range as the East Humboldt Wilderness. The range takes its name from the Humboldt River.
