State Route 19 (SR 19) is a former state highway in Douglas County, Nevada. The route was designated by 1929. As designated, it connected a branch of State Route 3 (now U.S. Route 50) near South Lake Tahoe to California southeast of Gardnerville near Topaz Lake. SR 19 followed the present-day alignment of State Routes 206, a small portion of State Route 207, and all of State Route 757. The route was cosigned with State Route 3 between Minden and Topaz Lake, then dropped SR 3 as it headed south into California. The portions of the route south of what is now SR 757 were later overlapped by US 395. State Route 3 (Nevada)
State Route 3 was the original designation for SR 208, SR 266 and SR 429. It was also the original designation for sections of US 6, US 50, US 95, Alternate US 95, US 395, and SR 430. SR 3 was one of Nevada’s original state highways, first appearing on official state highway maps in the late 1920s. Originally called the “Bonanza Highway”, it ran from Reno to the California state line west of Lida. Soon after being commissioned, SR 3 started going through changes, becoming shorter and less important as a major highway in the process. South Lake Tahoe, California
South Lake Tahoe is the most populous city in El Dorado County, California, United States, in the Sierra Nevada. The city's population was 21,330 at the 2020 census, down from 21,403 at the 2010 census. The city, along the southern edge of Lake Tahoe, extends about west-southwest along U.S. Route 50, also known as Lake Tahoe Boulevard. Topaz Lake
Topaz Lake is a reservoir located on the California-Nevada border, about south of Reno. The census-designated place of Topaz Lake, Nevada, is located along its northwest shore. The modern reservoir was formed by diverting waters from the West Walker River into a nearby basin that had previously contained a smaller, natural lake. That lake had historical significance since it lay on the route taken by American explorer Jedediah Smith in late spring of 1827 when leaving California at the end of his first journey, the first crossing ever of the Sierra Nevada by a non-native. It runs northwest from State Route 88 near the California state line along Foothill Road to Genoa, and then turns east on Genoa Lane to end at U.S. Route 395. From there, the route heads northwest with a gradual climb through the Sheridan area to meet SR 207 near Mottsville. Commonly known as the Kingsbury Grade, it is one of three Nevada highways that connect the western edge of the state to the Lake Tahoe region through the Carson Range. Minden is a census-designated place (CDP) in Douglas County, Nevada, United States. The population was 3,001 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Douglas County and is adjacent to the town of Gardnerville. The Douglas campus of the Western Nevada College is located in Minden. History It was founded in 1906 by Heinrich Friedrich Dangberg Jr., who named it after the town of Minden, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which was near his father's birthplace. A large share of the first settlers were Germans. Minden was founded on company land of the Dangberg Home Ranch and Dangberg commissioned most of the town's early buildings. Minden has had a post office since 1906.
