Netherlands In The Eurovision Song Contest 1975
The Netherlands was represented by six-member group Teach-In (band), Teach-In, with the song "Ding-a-dong", at the 1975 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Stockholm on 22 March. Teach-In were chosen as the Dutch representatives at the national final on 26 February, and went on to win the 1975 contest for the Netherlands. Before Eurovision Nationaal Songfestival 1975 The national final was held at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht (city), Utrecht, hosted by Willem Duys. For the first time since 1970, the Dutch performer had not been preselected by broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting, NOS, and the 1975 selection consisted of two stages. Firstly, each of the three participating acts performed a song and 5-member international jury voted for the best song; then the chosen song was performed by all three acts and a 100-member public jury voted for the act they wanted to perform it. Teach-In (band)
Teach-In was a Dutch band, best known for winning Eurovision Song Contest 1975 with the song "Ding-a-dong". The band was founded in 1967 and parted in 1980. Throughout this time there were several changes in line-up. History The group was formed in 1967 in Enschede. The first lineup: Hilda Felix (vocals), Henk Westendorp (vocals, later in Superfly), John Snuverink (vocals, guitar), Frans Schaddelee (bass), leader Koos Versteeg (vocals & keys) and Rudi Nijhuis (drums). In 1971, only Koos and Rudi remained in the group, and the rest of the band comprised Getty Kaspers (vocals, in 1976 solo as ''Getty''), John Gaasbeek (bass, already in 1964 in the Stora Combo (later known as Orkest Freddie Golden, he also left in 1976), Chris De Wolde (guitar) and Ard Weenink (also until 1976). Harry van Hoof (born 16 March 1943) is a Dutch conductor, composer and music arranger. Van Hoof has written many successful productions to his name already, he has his own production company and he had his first success as an arranger with "Sofie" by Johnny Lion. "Ding-a-dong" (original Dutch title: "Ding dinge dong", as it was introduced in the titles when broadcast) was the title of the winning song in the Eurovision Song Contest 1975. It was sung by Teach-In, representing the , and was written by Dick Bakker, Will Luikinga, and Eddy Ouwens. The song reached number 1 in both the Swiss and the Norwegian Singles Chart.
