Nepean—Carleton was a federal electoral district (Canada), electoral district in Ontario, Canada that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada, House of Commons from 1979 to 1988, and again from 1997 to 2015. It included the southern portion of the former city of Nepean, Ontario, Nepean and adjacent suburban and rural areas of west and southern Ottawa. Nepean (electoral District)
Nepean is a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1988 to 1997, and was reinstated during the 2012 electoral redistribution. The original riding was created in 1987 from parts of the Nepean—Carleton riding. It consisted of the City of Nepean. The electoral district was abolished in 1996 when it was redistributed between the Nepean—Carleton (54%) and the Ottawa West—Nepean (46%) ridings. The riding was then reinstated in 2012 by Elections Canada, taking effect upon the dropping of the writs for the 2015 federal election, scheduled for 19 October 2015. All of the current riding comes from parts of the former riding of Nepean—Carleton. Grenville–Carleton was a federal electoral district represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1968 to 1979. It was located in the province of Ontario. This riding was created in 1966 from parts of Carleton and Grenville—Dundas ridings. It consisted of: * the part of the City of Ottawa lying south of Base Line Road and west of Fisher Avenue; * the Townships of Goulbourn, Marlborough, Nepean, North Gower and Osgoode, and Long Island (in the Township of Gloucester) in the County of Carleton; * the County of Grenville, including the Village of Merrickville, and * the Townships of Matilda and Mountain in the County of Dundas. Rideau is an historic township in eastern Ontario, Canada. It is located in the rural parts of the City of Ottawa, in the extreme south. Its eastern boundary is the Rideau River, its namesake. The township was created in 1974 after the amalgamation of two other townships: Marlborough, and North Gower, plus Long Island, which was split between Osgoode and Gloucester Townships. Osgoode Township, Ontario
Osgoode Township is a former township that is now a part of the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The township along the Rideau River was established in 1798 and incorporated in 1850. It was an independent township in Carleton County, Ontario, Carleton County until its amalgamation with the city in 2001. It remains a largely rural area with only some 23,285 inhabitants as of the 2016 census. As of the Canada 2021 Census, this had increased to 24,199. It is represented in the House of Commons of Canada by David McGuinty, brother of former Premier of Ontario and Ottawa South MPP Dalton McGuinty.
