Nei Van Soria
Nei Van Soria (born October 5, 1969) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, lyricist, pianist, guitarist and record producer, famous for his work with pioneering Rio Grande do Sul rock bands TNT and Os Cascavelletes. Biography Van Soria was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul on October 5, 1969. His first musical ventures were with rock band TNT, founded in 1984 by childhood friends Flávio Basso, Charles Master, Márcio Petracco ,and Felipe Jotz. In 1985 TNT took part in the critically acclaimed compilation '' Rock Grande do Sul'', released by RCA Records; however, Basso and Van Soria were unhappy with RCA, citing numerous creative divergences between them and the label, and so they left TNT to form their own project, Os Cascavelletes, in 1987. Van Soria began his solo career shortly after Os Cascavelletes broke up, in 1992. Odeon Records is a record label founded in 1903 by Max Straus and Heinrich Zuntz of the International Talking Machine Company in Berlin, Germany. The label's name and logo come from the Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe in Paris. History Straus and Zuntz bought the company from Carl Lindström that he had founded in 1897. They transformed the Lindström enterprise into a public company, the Carl Lindström A.G. and in 1903 purchased Fonotipia Records, including their Odeon-Werke International Talking Machine Company. International Talking Machine Company issued the Odeon label first in Germany in 1903 and applied for a U.S. trademark the same year. ''Rock'a'ula'' is the only studio album by Brazilian rock band Os Cascavelletes, released in 1989 by Odeon Records. Produced by former Barão Vermelho bassist Dé Palmeira, it is considered a seminal work of the Rio Grande do Sul rock scene of the mid-1980s/early 1990s and spawned numerous hits which were very popular at the time of their release and are still remembered to this day, such as "Jessica Rose" (which originally appeared as a live bonus track on the band's 1988 self-titled EP), the infamous "Eu Quis Comer Você", "Lobo da Estepe" (which was inspired by Hermann Hesse's 1927 novel '' Steppenwolf'') and "Nêga Bombom", included in the soundtrack of the 1989–90 Rede Globo ''telenovela'' ''Top Model''. A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English), or simply a record, is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. The groove usually starts near the periphery and ends near the center of the disc. At first, the discs were commonly made from shellac, with earlier records having a fine abrasive filler mixed in. Starting in the 1940s polyvinyl chloride became common, hence the name vinyl. The phonograph record was the primary medium used for music reproduction throughout the 20th century. It had co-existed with the phonograph cylinder from the late 1880s and had effectively superseded it by around 1912. Records retained the largest market share even when new formats such as the compact cassette were mass-marketed. Jorge Otávio Pinto Pouey de Oliveira (born September 20, 1966), better known by his stage name Frank Jorge, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, lyricist, multi-instrumentalist, poet, Crônica, chronicler and professor, famous for his work with pioneering Rio Grande do Sul rock bands Os Cascavelletes and Graforreia Xilarmônica. Biography Jorge was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, on September 20, 1966. His father was a physician from Uruguaiana (who died when Jorge was only 2 years old), and his mother's family came from Santana do Livramento. He also has four sisters and a brother. During his travels abroad his father used to bring home many vinyl records, and his mother was very fond of literature, and on his later life Jorge would be very influenced by both aspects, to the point of graduating in Literature at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, PUC-RS in 1992.
