Needles High School
Needles High School (NHS) is a public high school in Needles, California, Needles, California. It is part of the Needles Unified School District. The school mascot is the Mustang, and the school colors are royal blue and white. The current alma mater, "All Hail to Thee," was written by members of the Class of 1959 as their gift to NHS as outgoing seniors. The school offers many extracurricular activities, including athletics, ASB (Associated Student Body), the Mock National Security Workshop, among others. Needles High School was featured on a School Pride television episode November 12, 2010. Needles High is one of five California high schools that are part of the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association. Needles is a city in San Bernardino County, California, in the Mojave Desert region of Southern California. Situated on the western banks of the Colorado River, Needles is located near the Californian border with Arizona and Nevada. The city is accessible via Interstate 40 in California, Interstate 40 and U.S. Route 95 in California, U.S. Route 95. History Needles was founded in May 1883 during the construction of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, which originally crossed the Colorado River at Eastbridge, Arizona three miles southeast of modern Needles. Needles Unified School District
Needles is part of San Bernardino County in California, but is on the borders of the states of Arizona and Nevada. Needles has been a regular stop for the Santa Fe railway since the 19th century. ''School Pride'' was an American reality television series which aired on NBC, from executive producers Cheryl Hines and Denise Cramsey. The 7-episode series, which followed the renovation of a different public school each week, aired from October 15, 2010, to November 26, 2010. The premiere episode earned 2.90 million viewers. Premise Each week, cameras follow teachers, students and community members as they perform renovations on an ailing school, which will occur over a seven-day period (ten days for the first episode). A group of community organizers and personalities serve to motivate the volunteers and lead the community through the makeover process. Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association
The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) is the governing body of athletic programs for high schools in the state of Nevada. In addition, five schools in the state of California (Coleville, Needles, North Tahoe, South Tahoe, and Truckee) and one from Arizona (Beaver Dam) are also members as the schools are geographically isolated from other in-state schools. It is a non-profit organization founded in 1922 as the Nevada Interscholastic League and became affiliated with the National Federation of State High School Associations in 1939. The league changed its name to the current form in 1967. The NIAA governs eligibility of student athletes, resolves disputes, organizes levels of competition by divisional separation of schools according to attendance population, and conducts state championship competitions in all the NIAA-sanctioned sports. Yerington High School is a public high school in Yerington, Nevada, United States, a town southeast of Carson City, Nevada. Hundreds of students are enrolled as of 2020.
