''Need for Speed Payback'' is a racing video game developed by Ghost Games and published by Electronic Arts for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One. It is the twenty-third installment in the ''Need for Speed'' series. The game was released worldwide on November 10, 2017, to mixed reviews from critics. The game was followed up by '' Need for Speed Heat'', which was developer Ghost Games' last ''Need for Speed'' title as lead developer. Gameplay ''Need for Speed Payback'' is a racing game set in an open world environment of Fortune Valley; a fictional version of Las Vegas, Nevada. It is focused on "action driving" and has three playable characters (each with different sets of skills) working together to pull off action movie-like sequences. The is a sports car based on the Nissan Skyline range. The first cars named "Skyline GT-R" were produced between 1969 and 1972 under the model code KPGC10, and were successful in Japanese touring car racing events.
