Ned Barry
Edward Fitzgerald Barry (3 September 1905 – 12 December 1993) was a New Zealand rugby union player. A Rugby union positions#Back row, loose forward, Barry represented Wellington Rugby Football Union, Wellington and, briefly, Wanganui Rugby Football Union, Wanganui at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, in 1932 and 1934. He played 10 matches for the All Blacks including one international, against Australia national rugby union team, Australia in 1934. A police officer, Barry had postings in Pahiatua, Whitianga, Orewa, and Auckland, where he was active as a coach and administrator at club and provincial union levels. He holds a unique place in New Zealand rugby history in that both his son, Kevin Barry (rugby union), Kevin Barry, and grandson, Liam Barry, also played for the All Blacks: in doing so they became the first family to provide All Blacks from three successive generations. Temuka
Temuka is a town on New Zealand's Canterbury Plains, 15 kilometres north of Timaru and 142 km south of Christchurch. It is located at the centre of a rich sheep and dairy farming region, for which it is a service town. It lies on the north bank of the Temuka River, just above its confluence with the Opihi River. Temuka is the second largest town in South Canterbury after Timaru. Temuka is home to three schools, two primary schools and one secondary school. Temuka is accessed by New Zealand's State Highway Number 1 and the Main South Line railway allowing for major cargo handling. Temuka is north of the Opihi and Temuka rivers. The local secondary school, Opihi College, takes its name from the Opihi River. Both rivers are popular with locals and tourists. The Northland Rugby Union is the governing body for rugby union in Northland, New Zealand; Northland is a region of New Zealand that covers areas in the districts of Far North, Kaipara, and Whangārei. Established in 1920, they represent the Bunnings NPC side, Northland Taniwha, and Farah Palmer Cup side, Northland Kauri. It is also affiliated with the Blues Super Rugby franchise. North Harbour Rugby Union
The North Harbour Rugby Union (NHRU), commonly known as North Harbour or simply Harbour, is the governing body of rugby union that encompasses a wide geographical area north of Auckland that includes North Shore City, Rodney District, the Hibiscus Coast and part of Waitakere City. There are 12 rugby clubs from Mahurangi RFC, based in Warkworth, Rodney District, in the north through to Massey the southernmost area of the union. The Counties Manukau Rugby Football Union (CMRFU) is the governing body of rugby union in Southern Auckland and the Franklin district of New Zealand. Nicknamed the ''Steelers'', their colours are red, white, and black horizontal bands. The Steelers moniker is a reference to the Glenbrook steel factory, which is in the area.
