Nebraska Highway 137 is a highway in northern Nebraska. Its southern terminus is at U.S. Highway 20 in Newport. Its northern terminus is at the South Dakota border where it continues as South Dakota Highway 47. Route description Nebraska Highway 137 begins in Newport at an intersection with US 20. It heads northward, passing through numerous unincorporated areas of farmland along the way. It meets NE 12 east of Burton, and runs concurrently with it to the northeast for about . NE 137 then splits off to the north, where it passes through the Jamison unincorporated area. It then continues northward to the South Dakota border, where it continues in that state as SD 47. Keya Paha County ( ) is a county in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 824. Its county seat is Springview. In the Nebraska license plate system, Keya Paha County is represented by the prefix 82 (it had the 82nd-largest number of vehicles registered in the county when the license plate system was established in 1922). History The name "Keya Paha" is taken from the Dakota language; literally translated, it means "turtle hill". South Dakota Highway 47 (SD 47) is a state route that runs north to south across the central portion of South Dakota. It begins at an unnumbered highway at the North Dakota border north of Eureka, and ends at the Nebraska border, where it becomes Nebraska Highway 137. It is just under in length. History When initially established in the mid-1920s, South Dakota 47 extended from U.S. Highway 16 at Pukwana to U.S. Highway 18 at Wheeler, along what is currently portions of South Dakota Highway 50 and Charles Mix County Highway 49. Nebraska Highway 12 is a highway in northern and northeastern Nebraska. It has a western terminus at U.S. Highway 83 in Valentine and an eastern terminus at U.S. Highway 20 west of Jackson.
