Nazrul Geeti
Nazrul Sangeet ( bn, নজরুল সঙ্গীত), also Nazrul Geeti ( bn, নজরুল গীতি; ), refers to the songs written and composed by Kazi Nazrul Islam, the national poet of Bangladesh. Nazrul Geeti incorporate revolutionary notions as well as more spiritual, philosophical and romantic themes. Nazrul wrote and composed nearly 4,000 songs (including gramophone records), which are widely popular in Bangladesh and India. Kazi Nazrul Islam
Kazi Nazrul Islam ( bn, কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম, ; 24 May 1899 – 29 August 1976) was a Bengali poet, Bengali literature, writer, Bangladeshi music, musician, and is the national poet of Bangladesh. Nazrul is regarded as one of the greatest poets in Bengali literature. Popularly known as Nazrul, he produced a Complete Works of Kazi Nazrul Islam, large body of poetry, music, messages, novels, stories, etc. with themes that included equality, justice, anti-imperialism, humanity, rebellion against oppression and religious devotion. Nazrul's activism for political and social justice as well as writing a poem titled as "Bidrohī", meaning "the rebel" in Bengali, earned him the title of "Bidrohī Kôbi" (''Rebel Poet''). Firoza Begum (singer)
Firoza Begum ( bn, ফিরোজা বেগম; 28 July 1930 – 9 September 2014) was a Bangladeshi Nazrul Geeti singer. She was awarded the Independence Day Award in 1979 by the Government of Bangladesh. Early life and career Firoza Begum was born in Gopalganj District on 28 July 1930 to the zamindar family of Ratail Ghonaparha. Her parents were Mohammad Ismail and Begum Kowkabunnesa. She became drawn to music in her childhood. She started her career in 1940s. Firoza Begum first sang in All India Radio while studying in sixth grade. She met the national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at the age of 10. She became a student of him. In 1942, she recorded her first Islamic song by the gramophone record company HMV in 78 rpm disk format. Ferdous Ara
Ferdous Ara is a Bangladeshi Nazrul Sangeet singer. Early life and education Ara, nicknamed Marine, was born in Brahmanbaria District to A.H.M. Abdul Hai, a classical singer of the early 1950s, and Mosharrefa Begum. She has three sisters, Jannat Ara, Nur-e-Jannat and Hur-e-Jannat. She completed her bachelor's and master's in History from the University of Dhaka. Career In 1973, Ara started her career as a regular vocal artist in Bangladesh Radio and afterward in Bangladesh Television. She is the niece and disciple of renowned Nazrul Sangeet Artist Firoza Begum. Early life Shusmita Anis started her training in music from the age of five from her aunt. Abbasuddin Ahmed (27 October 1901 – 30 December 1959) was a Bengali folk song composer and singer born in the Bengal province of British India. He was known for Bhawaiya folk song which is a style commonly found in Rangpur, Undivided Goalpara district and Cooch Behar Early life Ahmed was born in the Tufanganj subdivision of Cooch Behar district (now in India).
