Nautor Swan
Oy Nautor AB is a Finnish producer of luxury sailing yachts, based in Jakobstad. It is known for its ''Nautor's Swan'' range of yachts models. The company was founded in 1966 by Pekka Koskenkylä. The designers Nautor has worked with four naval architects during its history. The original designer Sparkman & Stephens had a long association with Nautor and were responsible for the first 775 yachts sold. These early designs combined a luxurious interior in a fiberglass hull with features that were then current in successful racing boats, such as the separation of the skeg-hung rudder from the keel. They won numerous races including the Cowes Week in 1968, the Bermuda Race in 1972 by Swan 48, followed by even bigger success in 1974, when a ketch rigged Swan 65 by the name '' Sayula II'' won the first ever Whitbread Round the World Race. The ClubSwan 36 is a Finnish sailboat that was designed by Juan Kouyoumdjian as an one design racer and first built in 2018. Giovanni Belgrano was the principal engineer and aerodynamic expert Hervé Devaux designed the rig. Production The design has been built by Oy Nautor AB in Finland, since 2018. It was fist publicly shown in Scarlino, Italy on 3 May 2018, it remains in production. Design The ClubSwan 36 is a racing keelboat, built predominantly of glassfibre, with infused E-glass epoxy corecell foam with carbon fibre reinforcement on the keel grid and also in the lateral bulkhead. Sir Peter James Blake (1 October 1948 – 5 December 2001) was a New Zealand yachtsman who won the 1989–1990 Whitbread Round the World Race, held the Jules Verne Trophy from 1994 to 1997 by setting the around the world sailing record as co-skipper of ''ENZA New Zealand'', and led New Zealand to successive victories in the America's Cup. William H. Tripp Jr (1920–1971) was an Americans, American naval architect who created many popular wooden and later fiberglass sailboat designs. Tripp used the diminutive, ''Bill'', as his usual first name. Life Tripp was a native of Long Island, New York. He started as a yacht designer working for Phillip Rhodes, before the Second World War. After returning from his military service in the war he worked for Sparkman & Stephens.
