Naugachia
Naugachia is a town and a notified area in Bhagalpur district in the Indian state of Bihar. It is a block and a division of the Bhagalpur district and also a police district. Geography Naugachia is located at 25°24′N 87°06′E . It has an average elevation of 25 metres (82 feet). It is bordered on one side by the river Ganges and other by the river Koshi. It is famous for yellow maize. It is also known as Kelanchal of Bihar (producer of bananas). Earlier, there used to be lot of problems regarding floods but after the construction of the ring dam on two of its borders, flood is no longer a problem to Naugachia. Naugachia is the heart of Bhagalpur because lots of business activities take place here and Vikaramshila Bridge is the only bridge that connects Bhagalpur to NH 31 via Naugachia because there is no railway line. Naugachia Railway Station
Naugachia railway station (station code: NNA) is on the Barauni–Katihar section of the Sonpur railway division and serves the town of Naugachhia in the Indian state of Bihar. Geography The station lies on the northern side of the Ganges and traverses the Kosi basin. In Bihar, the Kosi is widely referred to as the "Sorrow of Bihar" as it has caused widespread human suffering over the centuries through flooding and frequent changes in course. Over the last 250 years, the Kosi has shifted its course over from east to west. In August 2008, it picked up an old channel it had abandoned over a century ago near the Nepal–India border, and caused enormous damage in a wide area covering several districts. The breach in the Kosi embankment which caused the devastating flood in 2008, was repaired in 2009 and the river has since been flowing along its original course. Vikramshila Setu
Vikramshila Setu is a bridge across the Ganges, near Bhagalpur in the Indian state of Bihar named after the ancient Mahavihara of Vikramashila which was established by King Dharmapala (783 to 820 A.D.) . Vikramshila Setu is 6th longest bridge over water in India. The 4.7 km long two lane bridge serves as a link between NH 33 and NH 31 running on the opposite sides of the Ganges. It runs from Barari Ghat on the Bhagalpur side on the south bank of the Ganges to Naugachia on the north bank. It also connects Bhagalpur to Purnia and Katihar. This has reduced considerably the road travel between Bhagalpur and places across the Ganges. However, there is intense traffic congestion on the bridge due to increased traffic and there is now a demand to construct another bridge parallel to it. Ganges

Koshi River
The Kosi or Koshi ( ne, कोशी, , hi, कोसी, ) is a transboundary river which flows through China, Nepal and India. It drains the northern slopes of the Himalayas in Tibet and the southern slopes in Nepal. From a major confluence of tributaries north of the Chatra Gorge onwards, the Kosi River is also known as Saptakoshi ( ne, सप्तकोशी, ) for its seven upper tributaries. These include the Tamor River originating from the Kanchenjunga area in the east and Arun River and Sun Kosi from Tibet.
