Naturewatch Foundation
Naturewatch Foundation, founded in 1991 by the late John Ruane, is a registered charity in the UK. Their mission is to "end animal cruelty and advance animal welfare standards around the world". Naturewatch Foundation run animal welfare campaigns within the United Kingdom, most notably campaigns against animal experiments, puppy farming and badger baiting, as well as running stray animal welfare programmes in Ukraine. They have published The Compassionate Shopping Guide regularly since 1993, endorsing cruelty-free cosmetic and household product brands. They claim to operate the world's strictest endorsement criteria for cruelty-free companies, insisting on a fixed cut-off date animal testing policy for both brands and parent companies. Alexandra Bastedo
Alexandra Lendon Bastedo (9 March 1946 – 12 January 2014) was a British actress, best known for her role as secret agent Sharron Macready in the 1968 British espionage/science fiction adventure series ''The Champions''. Bastedo was a vegetarian and animal welfare advocate, and wrote a number of books on both subjects. Early life Bastedo was born in Hove, England. Pollyanna Pickering (30 July 1942 – 29 March 2018) was an English wildlife artist and environmentalist. Biography Pollyanna Pickering was born in Leeds, Yorkshire and was a wildlife artist who went on many expeditions around the world to study animals in their natural habitats. She studied at Rotherham Art School and later at the Central School of Art and Design in London. In 2008 The University of Derby conferred the honorary degree of master of the university. Christopher Gary Packham CBE (born 4 May 1961) is an English naturalist, nature photographer, television presenter and author, best known for his television work including the CBBC children's nature series ''The Really Wild Show'' from 1986 to 1995. The House of Croÿ () is a family of European mediatized nobility, which held a seat in the Imperial Diet from 1486, and was elevated to the rank of Princes of the Holy Roman Empire in 1594. In 1533 they became Dukes of Arschot (in Belgium) and in 1598 Dukes of Croy in France. In 1913, the family had branches in Belgium, France, Austria and Prussia. World Animal Day
World Animal Day is an international day of action for animal rights and welfare celebrated annually on October 4, the feast day of Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. The World Animal Day movement is supported and endorsed by a number of celebrities, such as Anneka Svenska, Brian Blessed and Melanie C. Animal welfare is the well-being of non-human animals. Formal standards of animal welfare vary between contexts, but are debated mostly by animal welfare groups, legislators, and academics. In the European Union, the Fixed Cut-Off Date (FCOD) Animal Testing Policy relates to the testing of ingredients used in the manufacture of cosmetics, toiletries and household products. A company’s FCOD is a date after which none of the ingredients in its products has been tested on animals. The policy is recognised by animal welfare groups worldwide as the benchmark for cruelty free cosmetics / toiletries and household cleaning products because companies with a FCOD policy will not use any ingredient tested on animals after a specific date.
