Josh Nelson
Josh Nelson is an American jazz pianist and composer. Nelson produced his independent debut album ''First Stories'' at age 19. His second album, ''Anticipation (Josh Nelson album), Anticipation'', was released in 2004 with all his compositions. In 2007, Nelson signed with the jazz label Native Language Music and released his third album, ''Let It Go (Josh Nelson album), Let It Go'', with guests Seamus Blake, Sara Gazarek, and Anthony Wilson (musician), Anthony Wilson. His fourth album, ''I Hear a Rhapsody (Josh Nelson album), I Hear a Rhapsody'', was released in 2009 with Nelson's compositions, interpretations of standards, and reinventions of rock songs. Jazz Record Labels
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Andy Snitzer (born November 28, 1962) is an American saxophonist, composer, and arranger. He is known for his work as a session musician with numerous famous artists, including Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin, Sting, The Rolling Stones, and Chaka Khan. Early life and education Snitzer was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Rochester, New York. He began playing the saxophone at a young age and attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, where he studied with Ramon Ricker. Career After moving to New York City, Snitzer pursued a career as a session musician and composer. He provided the saxophone solo in Boy Meets Girl's 1988 hit " Waiting for a Star to Fall". Dan Siegel (musician)
Dan Siegel (born in Seattle, Washington) is a pianist, composer, and record producer. His earlier music has been described as new age, while his more recent work has been called contemporary jazz. Music career Siegel was born in Seattle, Washington and raised in Eugene, Oregon. When he was eight, he began piano lessons, and at 12 he was performing professionally in a rock band. He went to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, then the University of Oregon. After college, he started recording his own compositions. He signed with the jazz record label Inner City Records and recorded his first album, ''Nite Ride'' (1980). His second album, ''The Hot Spot'' (1982), reached the top ten of the jazz chart in ''Billboard'' magazine. He moved to Los Angeles and composed music for movies and television. Gerry Niewood
Gerry Niewood (April 6, 1943 – February 12, 2009), born Gerard Joseph Nevidosky, was an American jazz saxophonist and flutist who worked often with Chuck Mangione. Like Mangione, Niewood was born in Rochester, New York, and graduated from the Eastman School of Music. He worked with Mangione from 1968 to 1976 and shortly after led a band with Dave Samuels. He spent most of his career as a session musician. In the 1990s, he returned to playing with Mangione. He and band member Coleman Mellett died in the crash of Colgan Air Flight 3407 on February 12, 2009.
