National Security Division (BKN)
National Security Division, or Bahagian Keselamatan Negara (BKN), is a senior grouping within the Malaysian government which meets infrequently. According to a United States Embassy telegram leaked by WikiLeaks in 2011, BKN is regarded as Malaysia's equivalent to other national security councils. As of November 2006, it was headed by Director General Ahmad Fuad bin Abdul Aziz, who also served as the Secretary of the National Security Council of Malaysia. Its main role is to coordinate a broad range of national security issues including natural disaster management, maritime and border control, and cyber security across other government agencies including the Public Order & Security Division, Defence Staff Intelligence Division, and the Malaysian Special Branch. WikiLeaks () is an international Nonprofit organization, non-profit organisation that published news leaks and classified media provided by anonymous Source (journalism), sources. National Security Council
A national security council (NSC) is usually an executive branch governmental body responsible for coordinating policy on national security issues and advising chief executives on matters related to national security. An NSC is often headed by a national security advisor and staffed with senior-level officials from military, diplomatic, intelligence, law enforcement and other governmental bodies. The functions and responsibilities of an NSC at the strategic state level are different from those of the United Nations Security Council, which is more of a diplomatic forum. Occasionally a nation will be ruled by a similarly named body, such as "the National Security Committee" or "Council for National Security". Public Order & Security Division
Security and Public Order Division is one of the units under the Malaysian Ministry of Home Affairs. It is in charge of security and public order and ensures the enforcement of the country's internal security laws. The Security and Public Order Division operated under several internal security laws including the Internal Security Act 1960, the Emergency Ordinance of 1969, the Prevention of Crime Act of 1959, and the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1985. The unit is also in charge of running rehabilitation programs. Defence Staff Intelligence Division
Malaysian Defence Intelligence Organisation is the military intelligence agency of Malaysia Armed Forces. Its role is said to be equivalent to the US Defense Intelligence Agency. MDIO is headed by an army lieutenant general and consists of tri services military branch such as army intelligence, naval intelligence and air force intelligence. MDIO was officially formed on 1 October 1981 as Defense Intelligence Staff Division (DISD) to replace the Joint Intelligence Directorate (JID) and the main role of the MDIO at that time was to gather and produce intelligence products to deal with the threat of the Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) during the Second Malayan Emergency. Malaysian Special Branch
The Special Branch or SB (Malay: ''Cawangan Khas'') is an intelligence agency attached to the Royal Malaysia Police. The SB is empowered to acquire and develop intelligence on internal and external threats to the nation, subversive activities, extremist activities and activities of sabotage and spying. The SB has also been accused of carrying out unlawful enforced disappearances.
