It runs northward from U.S. Route 5 (US 5) in Lyndon until nearing the Canada–United States border in the town of Norton; thereafter, the road continues east to the New Hampshire state line in Canaan. Lunenburg is a town in Essex County, Vermont, United States. The population was 1,246 at the 2020 census, the most populous in Essex County. Lunenburg contains the villages of West Lunenburg, South Lunenburg, Mill Village (Northern Lunenburg) and Gilman, and is part of the Berlin, NH–VT Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Lunenburg was granted by Benning Wentworth, the royal governor of New Hampshire, on July 5, 1763 to David Page and 68 other people. It is widely believed that David Page named the town, which stems from one of the titles for Prince Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand of Brunswick-Lunenburg. Maidstone is a town in Essex County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town had a population of 211. It is part of the Berlin, NH–VT Micropolitan Statistical Area. There is no town center or gas station, but there is a town office building in the southern part of the town. History The town was named after Maidstone, in England. Geography Maidstone is in eastern Essex County along the Connecticut River, the state boundary between Vermont and New Hampshire. Canaan is a town in Essex County, Vermont, United States. The population was 896 at the 2020 census. Canaan contains the village of Beecher Falls, located at the confluence of the Connecticut River and Halls Stream. It is part of the Berlin, NH–VT Micropolitan Statistical Area. Due to Québécois ancestry, 26% of Canaan residents speak French as their primary language, making the town one of New England's "Little Canadas." It is part of the Berlin, NH–VT Micropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Island Pond is in the center of the town of Brighton, at the north end (outlet) of Island Pond, the lake.
