National Peasant Alliance
The National Peasant Alliance ( ro, Alianța Național Țărănistă, or, alternatively, ro, Țărăniștii) is a Christian democratic and agrarian centre-right to right-wing political party in Romania which was founded in November 2019 by Radu Ghidău (the youngest elected MP on behalf of PNȚ-CD during the 1996–2000 legislature) as an alternative to the PNȚ-CD then and currently led by Aurelian Pavelescu. So far, it solely competed in the 2020 Romanian local elections, where it most notably scored modest results in Bucharest. The National Peasant Alliance (ANȚ) is currently an extra-parliamentary political party given the fact that it did not compete for the previous 2020 Romanian legislative election. 2020 Romanian Local Elections
Local elections were held in Romania on 27 September 2020. Initially planned for June 2020, the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic led the Government of Romania to postpone the elections to a date no later than 31 December 2020, and extending all the terms of the local offices due to expire on 5 June 2020. The aforementioned decision was deemed unconstitutional, and, in the end, a law was passed that extended the terms of the local officials up to 30 November 2020, and allowed the elections to be called by the Parliament, rather than by the Government, no later than that day.
