Swan Estuary Marine Park
Melville Water is a significant section of the Swan River in Perth, Western Australia. It is located west and downstream of Perth Water, from which it is separated by the Narrows Bridge. Name Melville Water was named in 1827 by Captain James Stirling, after 2nd Viscount Melville. The land south of Melville Water was named Melville Water Park Estate (in the area that is now Applecross) and was subdivided for development in 1896. Extent Melville Water lies between Point Resolution and Point Walter to the west, Point Heathcote at the mouth of the Canning River to the south-east, and the Narrows Bridge where it meets Perth Water to the north-east. The Shoalwater Islands Marine Park is a protected marine park located in Western Australia and stretches from the northern point of the Garden Island Causeway to the southern point of Becher Point. Rowley Shoals Marine Park
The Rowley Shoals is a group of three atoll-like coral reefs south of the Timor Sea, about west of Broome on the northwestern Australian coast, centered on , on the edge of one of the widest continental shelves in the world. Each atoll covers an area of around within the rim of the reef, including the lagoons, while the land areas are negligible. They belong to Western Australia. They all rise steeply from the surrounding ocean floor. To the northeast lie the Scott and Seringapatam Reefs which are located on the same undersea platform. The Ningaloo Coast is a World Heritage Site located in the north west coastal region of Western Australia. The heritage-listed area is located approximately north of Perth, along the East Indian Ocean. The distinctive Ningaloo Reef that fringes the Ningaloo Coast is long and is Australia's largest fringing coral reef and the only large reef positioned very close to a landmass. The Muiron Islands and Cape Farquhar are within this coastal zone. Montebello Islands Marine Park
The Montebello Island Marine Park (area 58,331 ha) is located off the northwest coast of Western Australia, about 1,600 km north of Perth, and 120 km west of Dampier. The reserve includes the entire group of Montebello Islands. Marmion Marine Park
The Marmion Marine Park is a protected area along and off the coast of northern Perth, Western Australia. In 1987, this park was declared the first marine park in Western Australia. The park covers an area of 10,500 ha, from Trigg Island in the south to Burns Beach in the north. Limestone reefs run parallel to the coastline and contain underwater limestone platforms and caves that hide many species of tropical fish. Several other animals visit this area regularly, including the Australian sea lion and the bottlenose dolphin. Humpback whales frequent the waters in May on their journey north. When they return between September and November, they are in breeding, making them easier to see by tourists. Jurien Bay Marine Park
The Jurien Bay Marine Park is a protected marine park that is located north of Perth, off the coastal tip of the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. The marine park was formally declared on and is situated along the Indian Ocean Drive that extends south from Green Head to the southern boundary of Nambung National Park. It includes many of the islands located in this region. Features The park name is from the French naval administration Charles-Marie Jurien de la Gravière. The park's management plans were considered for some years before declaration. Approximately 12 per cent of West Australian waters are currently included in marine parks and reserves, and about 2.4 per cent of state waters are in sanctuary (‘no take’) zones.
