National Movement Of Young Legislators
The National Movement of Young Legislators (NMYL), is a group of elected local lawmakers in the Philippines who are aged 40 years or younger. The local lawmakers are elected officials who hold positions such as municipal/city councilor, municipal/city vice mayor, provincial board member, and provincial vice governor. History NMYL was formed by the Presidential Council for Youth Affairs (PCYA) under President Corazon C. Aquino as part of her administration's youth development agenda. Elected NMYL's founding president was Senator Francis Pangilinan in 1989, when he was still a councilor of Quezon City, Philippines. He saw the need to unite and develop young legislators to develop committed, strong, and principled leaders among youth legislators. Francis Pangilinan
Francis Pancratius "Kiko" Nepomuceno Pangilinan (; born August 24, 1963) is a Filipino lawyer, politician, and farm owner who served as a Senator from 2001 to 2013 and from 2016 to 2022. He was the Senate Majority Leader from 2004 to 2008. A graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Law and Harvard Kennedy School, Pangilinan was first elected to the Quezon City Council, serving from 1988 to 1992. In between his stints in the Senate, he was the Presidential Assistant for Food Security and Agricultural Modernization to President Benigno Aquino III from 2014 to 2015. Pangilinan ran for vice president of the Philippines in the 2022 election under the Liberal Party as the running mate of Vice President Leni Robredo. However, he lost his vice-presidential bid to Sara Duterte, running mate of eventual president Bongbong Marcos. Quezon City (, ; fil, Lungsod Quezon ), also known as the City of Quezon and Q.C. (read in Filipino as Kyusi), is the List of cities in the Philippines, most populous city in the Philippines. Bulacan, officially the Province of Bulacan ( tl, Lalawigan ng Bulacan), is a province in the Philippines located in the Central Luzon region. Its capital is the city of Malolos. Bulacan was established on August 15, 1578, and part of the Metro Luzon Urban Beltway Super Region. Herbert Constantine "Bistek" Maclang Bautista (born May 12, 1968) is a Filipino actor and politician who served as mayor of Quezon City, the Philippines' largest city by population, from 2010 to 2019.
