National Home Guard Combat School
The National Home Guard Combat School ( sv, Hemvärnets stridsskola, HvSS) is a school of the Swedish Home Guard which trains Home Guard commanders in combat and leadership. Its based in Vällinge in Salem Municipality. History The National Home Guard Combat School was inaugurated on 27 June 1943. In the autumn of 1941, the Home Guard began searching for a central place for training and the then Home Guard chief Gustaf Petri visited, among other places, the manor Vällinge. The site was found suitable and received permission from, among others, ''Stockholms vattenledningsverk'' ("Stockholm's waterworks") to use the buildings and the surrounding land for a symbolic sum of SEK 200 per year. In March 1942, a call was sent out to companies and certain individuals for grants for the renovation of the school, among other things signed by Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf, and soon SEK 445,000 had been collected. Major (Maj) ( sv, Major, Mj) is a field grade military officer rank in the Swedish Armed Forces, above the rank of captain and below the rank of lieutenant colonel. It is equivalent to the naval rank of lieutenant commander in the Swedish Navy. Life Guards (Sweden)
The Life Guards ( sv, Livgardet, designation LG) is a combined Swedish Army cavalry/infantry regiment. Its responsibilities include the defence of Stockholm as well as provision of the royal guard of honour for the King of Sweden and the Stockholm Palace. With traditions dating from 1521, the regiment is one of the oldest military units in continuous operational existence in the world. It was established in its present form in July 2000, following a merger of the Svea Life Guards and the Life Guard Dragoons. Life Regiment Grenadiers
Life Regiment Grenadiers ( sv, Livregementets grenadjärer), also I 3, was a Swedish Army infantry unit that was active in various forms 1815–2000. The unit was based in Örebro Garrison in Örebro and belonged to the King's Life and Household Troops (''Kungl. Maj:ts Liv- och Hustrupper'') until 1974. History The unit has its root in the Life Regiment Grenadier Corps (''Livregementets grenadjärkår''), which at the division of the Life Regiments (in 1791) was called the Life Regiment Brigade's Light Infantry Battalion (''Livregementsbrigadens lätta infanteribataljon''), but which in 1804 adopted the name Life Regiment Grenadier Corps. The Bergslagen Artillery Regiment ( sv, Bergslagens artilleriregemente), designation A 9, is a Swedish Army artillery unit which has operated in various forms from 1943 to 2000 and again from 4 December 2022 after the Swedish government decided to re-form the regiment in Kristinehamn as Bergslagen Artillery Regiment (A 9) with full operational capability reached by 2025. History The regiment was created as part of a build-up of the Swedish Army during World War II, so that Sweden's neutrality could be protected. In accordance with the Defence Act of 2000, the regiment and the other artillery regiments of the Swedish Army were amalgamated into the Artillery Regiment, in Kristinehamn, which took the A 9 designation from the Bergslagen Artillery Regiment. Västernorrland Regiment
The Västernorrland Regiment ( sv, Västernorrlands regemente), designation I 21, is a Swedish Army infantry unit which operated in various forms the years 1869–1983, 1991–2000 and from 2022. It is located in Sollefteå Garrison in Sollefteå with a detachment in Östersund. History The regiment was the only regiment that grew out of the 1812 conscription organization and originated in Västernorrland Conscription Battalion (''Västernorrlands beväringsbataljon'') which was formed on 19 October 1854. Hälsinge Regiment
The Hälsinge Regiment ( sv, Hälsinge regemente), designations I 14, I 14/Fo 49 and I 14/Fo 21, was a Swedish Army infantry regiment that traced its origins back to the 16th century. It was disbanded in 1997. The regiment's soldiers were originally recruited from the provinces of Hälsingland and Gästrikland, and it was later garrisoned in Gästrikland. History The regiment has its origins in fänikor (companies) raised in Hälsingland and Gästrikland in the 1550s and 1560s.
