National Highway 112 (India)
National Highway 112 (NH 112) is a highway in the Indian state of West Bengal. Start and end points of National Highways-Source-Government of India It runs from Barasat to Petrapole border with Bangladesh. NH 112 was earlier denoted as NH 35. It is one of the most important connecting links between Kolkata and Bangladesh. It is a part of the historic Jessore Road which runs from Shyambazar in North Kolkata to Jessore in Bangladesh. Barasat
Barasat () is a city and a municipality of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the headquarters of Barasat Sadar subdivision. It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). Located in the Ganges delta, Barasat is a regional transportation hub as a rail and road junction. Ashoknagar Kalyangarh (অশোকনগর কল্যাণগড়) is a city and a municipality in Barasat Sadar subdivision of North 24 Parganas district in the state of West Bengal, India. Ashoknagar is the first discovered oil field in West Bengal and East India. The oil field was discovered in 2018 by ONGC. List Of National Highways In India
On 28 April 2010, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways officially published a new numbering system for the National Highway network in the Gazette of the Government of India. It is a systematic numbering scheme based on the orientation and the geographic location of the highway. This was adopted to ensure more flexibility and consistency in the numbering of existing and new national highways. As per the new numbering system: * All north-south oriented highways will have even numbers increasing from the east to the west. * All east-west oriented highways will have odd numbers increasing from the north to the south. * All major Highways will be single digit or double digit in number. * Three-digit numbered highways are secondary routes or branches of a main highway. The secondary route number is prefixed to the number of the main highway. Asian Highway Network
The Asian Highway Network (AH), also known as the Great Asian Highway, is a cooperative project among countries in Asia and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) to improve their connectivity via highway systems. It is one of the three pillars of the Asian Land Transport Infrastructure Development (ALTID) project, endorsed by the ESCAP commission at its 48th session in 1992, comprising Asian Highway, Trans-Asian Railway (TAR) and facilitation of land transport projects. Agreements have been signed by 32 countries to allow the highway to cross the continent and also reach to Europe.
