National Digital Health Mission
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) (previously known as National Digital Health Mission) is implemented by the National Health Authority (NHA), an agency of the Government of India. The ABDM aims to develop the backbone necessary to support the integrated digital health infrastructure of the country. It bridges the existing gap amongst different stakeholders of Healthcare ecosystem through digital highways. The Mission aims to create an integrated healthcare system that will link practitioners and patients digitally by giving them access to real-time health records. This will promote prompt and structured healthcare across the country leading to the creation of a national digital health ecosystem that supports universal health coverage in an efficient, accessible, inclusive, affordable, timely and safe manner. Digital public goods are public goods in the form of software, data sets, AI models, standards or content that are generally free cultural works and contribute to sustainable national and international digital development. Use of the term "digital public good" appears as early as April 2017, when Nicholas Gruen wrote ''Building the Public Goods of the Twenty-First Century'', and has gained popularity with the growing recognition of the potential for new technologies to be implemented at a national scale to better service delivery to citizens. Aadhaar ( hi, आधार, ādhār, lit=base, foundation, bn, আধার) is a 12-digit unique identity number that can be obtained voluntarily by the citizens of India and resident foreign nationals who have spent over 182 days in twelve months immediately preceding the date of application for enrolment, based on their biometric and demographic data. Ayushman Bharat Yojana
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana ( or PM-JAY'';'' also referred to as Ayushman Bharat National Health Protection Scheme or NHPS) is a national public health insurance fund of the Government of India that aims to provide free access to health insurance coverage for low income earners in the country. Roughly, the bottom 50% of the country qualifies for this scheme. People using the program access their own primary care services from a family doctor. When anyone needs additional care, then PM-JAY provides free secondary health care for those needing specialist treatment and tertiary health care for those requiring hospitalization. National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX) is an online system for processing health insurance claims in India. Overview In 2023, India's National Health Authority (NHA), the organization implementing the Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, aimed to create an unified portal for hospitals nationwide to process claims with nearly 50 insurance providers. The NHCX aims to standardize and simplify the exchange of health claims, making it easier for insurance companies, government schemes, and healthcare providers like hospitals and labs to share data, documents, and images. This system will also make claims processing more transparent and efficient, lowering operational costs.
