National Development Party (Brunei)
National Development Party ( ms, Parti Pembangunan Bangsa, ) is a political party in Brunei. Although legally registered as a political party, it has not been able to gain electoral representation as legislative elections have not been held in Brunei since 1962. The party formally legalised on 31 August 2005 by former rebel and Secretary General of the banned Brunei People's Party, Yassin Affandi, aka Haji Muhammad Yasin bin Abdul Rahman, co-founded the Party, which is the third political party founded legally in Brunei to date. Brunei People's Party
Brunei People's Party (Malay: ''Parti Rakyat Brunei, PRB'') is a banned political party in Brunei. PRB was established as a left leaning party in 1956 and aimed to bring Brunei into full independence from the United Kingdom. The party sought to democratise the government by shifting the national leadership from the palace to the people. Formation Brunei People's Party was established, initially, as a branch of the Malayan People's Party (MPP) on 21 January 1956, at the house owned by a prominent leader, H.M. Salleh at Kampong Kianggeh, Brunei Town, two months after MPP was founded in Malaya. About 150 people attended the event. The Legislative Council of Brunei ( Malay: ''Majlis Mesyuarat Negara Brunei''; Jawi: مجليس مشوارت نڬارا بروني; abbrev: Legco) is a national unicameral legislature of Brunei. The council comprises 36 appointed members, that only has consultative tasks. Under Brunei's 1959 constitution, His Majesty Hassanal Bolkiah is the head of state with full executive authority, including emergency powers since 1962. The Council holds its sitting annually in March at Legislative Council Building in Bandar Seri Begawan. History The council was established in 1959 by virtue of Article 23 of Brunei's Constitution of 1959. Its first sitting was held at Lapau on 21 October 1959. Mukim Sengkurong is a mukim in Brunei-Muara District, Brunei. The population was 31,493 in 2016. Name The mukim is named after Kampong Sengkurong, one of the villages it encompasses. Geography The mukim is located in the western- and north-westernmost part of the district, bordering the South China Sea to the north, Mukim Gadong 'A' to the east, Mukim Kilanas to the south-east, Mukim Pengkalan Batu to the south and Mukim Keriam in Tutong District to the west. Kampong Jerudong or simply Jerudong is a village in Brunei-Muara District, Brunei, about from the capital Bandar Seri Begawan. The population was 3,856 in 2016. It is one of the settlements within Mukim Sengkurong. The village is home to a few notable places of the country.
