National Cycle Route 65
National Cycle Network (NCN) Route 65 is a Sustrans National Route that runs from Hornsea on the North Sea Coast of The East Riding of Yorkshire via Hull and York to Middlesbrough. It is fully open and signed. Between Hornsea and York it forms the eastern end of the Trans Pennine Trail. The section between York and Linton-on-Ouse is part of the Way of the Roses. In 1998 Route 65 between Hull and Middlesbrough was branded The White Rose cycle route. This branding is no longer in use. Route Hornsea to Hull This part of the route runs almost entirely along the dismantled trackbed of the Hull and Hornsea Railway and is known as the Hornsea Rail Trail. The path takes a straight route over the flat Holderness plain and is in length. Kirby Knowle
Kirby Knowle is a village and civil parish in Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England, on the border of the North Yorkshire Moors and near Upsall, about 4 miles north-east of Thirsk. Historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire, the population of the civil parish was estimated at 60 in 2014. In the 2011 census the population of Kirby Knowle was included with Cowesby parish and not counted separately. History The village is mentioned in the ''Domesday Book'' as ''Chirchebi'' in the ''Yalestre'' hundred. The lands were in the possession of ''Orm, son of Gamal'', but passed to ''Hugh , son of Baldric'' after the Norman invasion. The lands became the possession of Robert de Mowbray who granted tenancy to Baldwin le Wake and then to the Upsall family, eventually passing to the Lascelles family. Beningbrough Hall
Beningbrough Hall is a large Georgian mansion near the village of Beningbrough, North Yorkshire, England, and overlooks the River Ouse. It has baroque interiors, cantilevered stairs, wood carving and central corridors which run the length of the house. Externally the house is a red-brick Georgian mansion with a grand drive running to the main frontage and a walled garden, The house is home to more than 100 portraits on loan from the National Portrait Gallery. It has a restaurant, shop and garden shop, and was shortlisted in 2010 for the Guardian Family Friendly Museum Award. National Cycle Route 71
National Cycle Network (NCN) Route 71 is a Sustrans National Route that runs from Whitehaven and Workington on the Cumbrian coast to Kirby Knowle in North Yorkshire to join NCN Route 65. The route is fully open and signed in both directions. Route The route is discontinuous and is made up of three sections. Originally it was signed as Route 71 continuously from western trailhead to eastern trailhead. The creation of the Pennine Cycleway (Route 68) and Route 70 ( W2W) resulted in sections of Route 71 being renumbered to those routes. Workington or Moor Row to Penrith Route 71 has two strands at its western end. The northern strand trailhead is in Workington and heads east via Cockermouth. The southern strand trailhead is on Route 72 in Moor Row. It heads east to meet the northern strand in Thornthwaite. National Cycle Route 62
National Cycle Network (NCN) Route 62 is a Sustrans National Route that runs from Fleetwood to Selby. As of 2018 the route has a missing section between Preston and Southport but is otherwise open and signed. History Much of route 62 was created as part of the Trans Pennine Trail, a long-distance path running from coast to coast across Northern England. It forms part of European walking route E8. It was given the route number 62 in reference to the M62 motorway which it running parallel to between Liverpool and Selby. Route Fleetwood to Hutton The western trailhead is in Fleetwood. The route follows the coast on traffic-free paths to Lytham St Annes via Blackpool. From Lytham, the route follows minor roads to the western outskirts of Preston. Passing through the city centre the route reaches Hutton. From here to the northern edge of Southport the route has yet to be determined. National Cycle Route 1
The cycle-path is located in the United Kingdom. Route Dover to Canterbury Dover , Deal , Sandwich , Canterbury Links with National Cycle Route 2, Regional route 16, and Regional route 17 in Dover. Leaves Dover passing Dover Castle. South Foreland Lighthouse is visible from the route. Mostly traffic-free along the east coast from Kingsdown to Deal, passing Walmer Castle and Deal Castle. Follows toll road (free to cyclists) through the Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club to the town of Sandwich. In Sandwich the route links with Regional route 15. Shortly after leaving Sandwich the route passes Richborough Castle, then follows quiet country roads between some of Kent's orchards. The route passes through the villages of Westmarsh, Elmstone, Preston. The route then passes through the town of Fordwich, then traffic-free into the city of Canterbury.
