National Council For Culture And Arts
The Secretariat of Culture ( es, Secretaría de Cultura), formerly known as the National Council for Culture and Arts ( es, Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes or CONACULTA), is a Mexican government agency in charge of the nation's museums and monuments, promoting and protecting the arts (visual, plastic, theatrical, musical, dance, architectural, literary, televisual and cinematographic), and managing the national archives. It was created in 1988 and was a decentralized body of the Secretariat of Public Education (Mexico), Secretariat of Public Education ( es, Secretaría de Educación Pública). On December 18, 2015, CONACULTA was elevated to a secretariat following the passage of a law originally promoted three months earlier by President Enrique Peña Nieto. Alejandra Frausto Guerrero is a Mexican lawyer and cultural director. Since 1 December 2018 she is the head of Secretariat of Culture, Secretariat of Culture of Mexico appointed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Bio Frausto is a lawyer by the National Autonomous University of Mexico. From 2004 to 2006 she served as cultural director of the University of the Cloister of Sor Juana. The Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL, en, National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature), located in the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, is the Mexican institution in charge of coordinating artistic and cultural activities (both at the political and the educational level) in the country.
