The Mexican Film Institute ( es, Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografía, IMCINE) is an agency of the Mexican federal government, under the auspices of the Secretariat of Culture, that supports the development of national film production and the film industry. History IMCINE was established on March 25, 1983, alongside the Instituto Mexicano de la Radio and Instituto Mexicano de la Televisión. The goals of the agency are to promote and grow national film production; establish development policies; support the production and distribution of Mexican films in and out of the country; promote Mexican cinema worldwide; and support cinema itself by organizing events across the country. The first director of IMCINE was director Alberto Isaac Alberto Isaac (18 March 1923 – 9 January 1998) was a Mexican freestyle swimmer and later a film director and screenwriter. Secretariat Of Culture
The Secretariat of Culture ( es, Secretaría de Cultura), formerly known as the National Council for Culture and Arts ( es, Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes or CONACULTA), is a Mexican government agency in charge of the nation's museums and monuments, promoting and protecting the arts (visual, plastic, theatrical, musical, dance, architectural, literary, televisual and cinematographic), and managing the national archives. It was created in 1988 and was a decentralized body of the Secretariat of Public Education ( es, Secretaría de Educación Pública). On December 18, 2015, CONACULTA was elevated to a secretariat following the passage of a law originally promoted three months earlier by President Enrique Peña Nieto. The Instituto Mexicano de la Radio (English: "Mexican Radio Institute") is a Mexican public broadcaster, akin to National Public Radio in the US. It is also known as IMER. Imevisión
The Instituto Mexicano de la Televisión (''Mexican Television Institute''), known commercially as Imevisión after 1985, was a state broadcaster and federal government agency of Mexico. At its height, Imevisión programmed two national networks and additional local stations in Mexico City, Chihuahua, Ciudad Juárez, Guadalajara, Mexicali, Tijuana and Monterrey. As the Mexican government moved toward privatization, and in light of financial sustainability issues, most of Imevisión was sold in 1992 to a group headed by Ricardo Salinas Pliego, which came to be known as Televisión Azteca. Alberto Isaac
Alberto Isaac (18 March 1923 – 9 January 1998) was a Mexican freestyle swimmer and later a film director and screenwriter. He competed in the 1948 Summer Olympics and the 1952 Summer Olympics. In 1969, he directed the documentary film '' The Olympics in Mexico'' which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. In 1980 he was a member of the jury at the 30th Berlin International Film Festival.
