National Commission On Status Of Women
National Commission on Status of Women (NCSW) ( ur, ) is a Pakistani statutory body established by the President Pervez Musharraf, under the XXVI Ordinance dated 17 July 2000. It is an outcome of the national and international commitments of the Government of Pakistan like Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, 1995; and 1998 National Plan of Action (NPA) for Women, 1998. The main objective of the Commission is the emancipation of women, equalization of opportunities and socio-economic conditions amongst women and men, and elimination of all sorts of discrimination against women. Functions and mandate The main functions of the NCSW include the examination of the policy, programs, and other measures taken by the Pakistani Government for women's development and the review of all policies, laws, rules, and regulations affecting the status and rights of women and gender equality in accordance with the Constitution. NILOFAR BAKHTIAR
Nilofar Bakhtiar ( ur, نیلوفر بختیار ) (born 9 September 1957) is a public official in Pakistan. She was Federal Minister for Tourism in Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz's cabinet until a scandal forced her to resign. She remains a senator. Bakhtiar has worked toward improving women's social status, as well as working in areas of health and education. Early life and education Bakhtiar was born in Hadali to a Pashtun family. The family has a background of social work and military service. Her father was retired from army as colonel while her two brothers retired from brigadier rank. Begum Ali Malik, Bakhtiar's mother, was a renowned social worker and was also the founder and chairperson of The National Committee for the Repatriation of POWs after the 1971 war. Anis Haroon is a Pakistani women's rights activist and former caretaker Provincial Minister of Sindh who served in 2013 caretaker ministry. The Ministry of Justice ( ur, ); abbreviated as MoJ) is a cabinet-level ministry of Pakistan, responsible and for the enforcement of law and administration of justice. The ministry's political executive figure is known as the Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights, who must be an elected legislator and Parliamentarian. The Minister for Justice is associated with enforcing laws and administration of government judicial departments, and is a public face of the government in legal services required by the state. Minorities In Pakistan
Pakistan has various religious minorities. According to the 1941 census of India, there were 5.9 million non-Muslims in the territories that came to form Pakistan in 1947 (West Pakistan and East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). During and after Pakistan's independence in 1947, about 5 million Hindus and Sikhs emigrated to India, with Punjab alone accounting for migration of 3.9 million people. According to the 1951 census conducted by the Government of Pakistan, Pakistan had 1.6% Hindu population. In East Pakistan(Bangladesh), the non-Muslims comprised 23.2% of the total population.
