''National Champions'' is a 2021 American sports drama film directed by Ric Roman Waugh, based on the play of the same name by Adam Mervis. The film stars Stephan James, J. K. Simmons, Alexander Ludwig, Lil Rel Howery, Tim Blake Nelson, Andrew Bachelor, Jeffrey Donovan, David Koechner, Kristin Chenoweth, Timothy Olyphant, and Uzo Aduba. Ric Roman Waugh (born February 20, 1968) is an American film director, writer, producer, actor, and former stuntman. He is known for his work in ''Felon'' (2008), ''Snitch'' (2013), and '' Shot Caller'' (2017). He wrote and directed '' Angel Has Fallen'' (2019), the third installment in the ''Has Fallen'' series and will write and direct ''Night Has Fallen'', the fourth installment in the ''Has Fallen'' series.
