National Bureau Of Air Accidents Investigation Of Ukraine
The National Bureau of Air Accidents Investigation of Ukraine (NBAAI, uk, Національне бюро з розслідування авіаційних подій та інцидентів з цивільними повітряними суднами) is the national civil aviation incident investigation authority of Ukraine, a "specialist expert organization" consisting of 40 experts and subordinated to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The bureau was established on March 21, 2012, by the special Cabinet Decree #228 according to the provisions of the Aerial Code of Ukraine. Aviation Accidents
An aviation accident is defined by the Convention on International Civil Aviation Annex 13 as an occurrence associated with the operation of an aircraft, which takes place from the time any person boards the aircraft with the ''intention of flight'' until all such persons have disembarked, and in which a) a person is fatally or seriously injured, b) the aircraft sustains significant damage or structural failure, or c) the aircraft goes missing or becomes completely inaccessible. Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 (MH17/MAS17) was a scheduled passenger flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur that was shot down by Russian forces on 17 July 2014, while flying over eastern Ukraine. All 283 passengers and 15 crew were killed.
