National Biotechnology Research Park
The National Biotechnology Research Park () is an industrial park in Nangang District, Taipei, Taiwan. History The area where the industrial park stands today used to be the site for the 202nd arsenal of Ministry of National Defense. Later on, the area was decided to be redeveloped into an industrial park during the presidency of Chen Shui-bian. The construction project was launch in 2007. Hampered by several controversies, the construction finally began in 2014. The industrial park was developed with a budget of NT$22.5 billion and construction of was completed on 14 March 2018. The industrial park was inaugurated on 15 October 2018 by President Tsai Ing-wen. Nangang, United States National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency District (), also Nankang, is a southeastern district of Taipei, Taiwan. It is the seat of the Academia Sinica, Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall, and Nankang Software Park (NKSP). An industrial park can be thought of as a more "heavyweight" version of a business park or office park, which has offices and light industry, rather than heavy industry. Chen Shui-bian
Chen Shui-bian (; born 12 October 1950) is a retired Taiwanese politician and lawyer who served as the president of the Republic of China (Taiwan) from 2000 to 2008. Chen was the first president from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) which ended the Kuomintang's (KMT) 55 years of continuous rule in Taiwan. He is colloquially referred to as A-Bian (阿扁). A lawyer, Chen entered politics in 1980 during the Kaohsiung Incident as a member of the Tangwai movement and was elected to the Taipei City Council in 1981. The president of the Republic of China, now often referred to as the president of Taiwan, is the head of state of the Republic of China (ROC), as well as the commander-in-chief of the Republic of China Armed Forces. Tsai Ing-wen (; born 31 August 1956) is a Taiwanese politician serving as president of the Republic of China (Taiwan) since 2016. A member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Tsai is the first female president of Taiwan. National Laboratory Animal Center
The National Laboratory Animal Center (NLAC) is a research institute in Taiwan which is part of the National Applied Research Laboratories. History The National Laboratory Animal Center was established in 1994 as the first large scale domestic supplier of specific pathogen free (SPF) laboratory rodents. In June 2003 it was brought under the umbrella of the National Applied Research Laboratories. NLAC supports Taiwan's biomedical industry. In 2015 NLAC succeeded in breeding their first advanced severe immuno deficiency (ASID) mouse which they established a commercial line off of.
