National Alliance Of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP)
The National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) is a professional organization for college and high school partnerships offering college courses in American high schools. NACEP was established in 1999 in response to the dramatic increase in concurrent enrollment courses throughout the country. NACEP serves as a national accrediting body for these programs NACEP provides standards of excellence, networking,best practices, and information about national trends in dual and concurrent enrollment. NACEP bylaws were first adopted in 2002. Standards for Accreditation NACEP has set 16 concurrent enrollment standards and 13 college-provided faculty model standards in six categories: Partnerships, Curriculum, Faculty, Students, Assessment, and Program Evaluation. Concurrent Enrollment
In the United States, dual enrollment (DE), also called concurrent enrollment, programs allow students to be enrolled in two separate, academically related institutions. Generally, it refers to high school students taking college or university courses. Less commonly, it may refer to any individual who is participating in two related programs. History Dual enrollment was first started in 1955 by thUniversity of Connecticut under the direction of Provost Albert Waugh. It was his belief that the senior year in high school was not challenging enough for many students, resulting in student boredom and disinterest in learning - now called senioritis. Post Secondary Enrollment Options
Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) is an academic option open to high school seniors, juniors and sophomores in various US states, such as Minnesota, Ohio and Washington. The options allow students to take courses at the college level. It is possible for a student to graduate with both an associate's degree and a high school diploma at the same time via PSEO. The PSEO program was created in 1985 by Minnesota, and later adopted by Ohio's Department of Education PSEO enables 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students to fulfill their high school graduation requirements while earning college credit at Minnesota colleges and universities!
