Nate Johnson (meteorologist)
Nathan Johnson is an American meteorologist serving as Vice President of Weather Content and Operations for NBC Universal owned and operated stations (including Telemundo) since November 2018, a position created by NBC for Johnson. He Previously he worked for WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina as a meteorologist and executive producer focusing on weather operations since 2007. Johnson has also served meteorology lecturer at North Carolina State University since 2010 and serves as gameday meteorologist for NC State football games at Carter-Finley Stadium. Prior to joining WRAL, Johnson was a data services meteorologist with Baron Services in Huntsville, Alabama. Prior to that he served as chief meteorologist at KTXS-TV in Abiliene, Texas. Nathan Johnson (abolitionist)
Nathan Johnson (ca. 1797-1880) was an African-American abolitionist who sheltered fugitive slaves, most notably Frederick Douglass, and was a successful businessman in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He married Mary Durfee, nicknamed Polly, who was his business partner in their confectionery and catering businesses. In 1849, Nathan followed the Gold Rush to California. Polly died in 1871 and Nathan returned after her death and was a beneficiary of her estate. The Nathan and Polly Johnson House is on the city's Underground Railroad Tour and has been recognized as a National Historic Landmark. Early life Johnson was born a free person of color or a slave in Philadelphia or Virginia about 1797. His mother was Emely Brown. Barack Obama Assassination Plot In Denver
Shawn Robert Adolf, Tharin Robert Gartrell and Nathan Dwaine Johnson plotted to assassinate Barack Obama, then the 2008 Democratic Party presidential nominee. The trio allegedly planned to shoot Senator Obama with a high-powered rifle during the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado. The alleged motive for the attempted assassination was a white supremacist belief that an African American should not be elected President of the United States. Gartrell was arrested August 24, 2008, and found to be in possession of rifles and other weaponry; Adolf and Johnson were arrested shortly thereafter. In a televised interview after his arrest, Johnson identified Adolf as the man who allegedly hatched the assassination plot and planned to be the shooter. Nathan Tyler Johnson (born August 4, 1976) is an American film composer, director, and producer. Early life Johnson was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Colorado. After living in England in the mid-2000s, Johnson relocated to the East coast of the U.S., where he launched a live touring project with his band, The Cinematic Underground. His work with the band opened up doors into film composing, and his first musical score was for the award-winning film ''Brick''. Career Composing In 2005, Johnson composed the score to the neo-noir film ''Brick'', which was written and directed by his cousin Rian Johnson. The score features traditional instruments such as the piano, trumpet and violin, and also contains unique and invented instruments such as the wine-o-phone, metallophone, treated pianos, filing cabinets, and kitchen utensils. Nathan And Mary (Polly) Johnson Properties
The Nathan and Mary (Polly) Johnson properties are a National Historic Landmark at 17–19 and 21 Seventh Street in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Originally the building consisted of two structures, one dating to the 1820s and an 1857 house joined with the older one shortly after construction. They have since been restored and now house the New Bedford Historical Society. The two properties are significant for their association with leading members of the abolitionist movement in Massachusetts, and as the only surviving residence in New Bedford (out of three known) of Frederick Douglass. Nathan and Polly Johnson were free African-Americans who are known to have sheltered escaped slaves using the Underground Railroad from 1822 on.
