Rio Grande do Norte/São Gonçalo do Amarante–Governador Aluízio Alves International Airport is an airport in São Gonçalo do Amarante, Brazil serving Natal and its metropolitan area. The airport is managed by Consortium Inframérica. History The airport was built to replace Augusto Severo International Airport. Planning started in 2007 and envisaged an intermodal airport, focusing both on passenger and cargo transportation. The complex was expected to have the highest aircraft traffic in the North East of Brazil. On May 12, 2011, the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC) released a document opening the concession of the airport to private entrepreneurs. The auction to choose the winner took place on August 22, 2011. The winner was the Inframérica Consortium, formed by the Brazilian Engineering Group Engevix (50%) and the Argentinean Group Corporación América (50%). Natal ( ) is the capital and largest city of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, located in northeastern Brazil. Santa Genoveva/Goiânia International Airport is the airport serving Goiânia, Brazil. It is operated by CCR. History The airport was commissioned in 1955 although operations started a few years earlier. In 1974, Infraero started to operate the airport. In 2010 the government of the state of Goiás, in order to encourage tourism and aviation reduced the tax on petrol from 15% to 3%. After such a reduction there was some interest from airlines to build a hub at Santa Genoveva airport but operational limitations prevented the immediate implementation of such a plan. The old passenger terminal was capable of handling 600,000 passengers/year but in its last few years it had been operating beyond its capacity: in 2015 it handled more than 5 times its capacity. São Paulo–Congonhas Airport
São Paulo/Congonhas–Deputado Freitas Nobre Airport is one of the four commercial airports serving São Paulo, Brazil. The airport is named after the neighborhood where it is located, called Vila Congonhas, property of the descendants of Lucas Antônio Monteiro de Barros (1767–1851), Viscount of Congonhas do Campo, first president of the Province of São Paulo after the independence of Brazil in 1822, during the Empire. In turn, the Viscount's domain was named after the plural of a shrub known in Brazil as ''congonha-do-campo'' (''Luxemburgia polyandra'', of the Ochnaceae family).
