Goiânia International Airport
Santa Genoveva/Goiânia International Airport is the airport serving Goiânia, Brazil. It is operated by CCR. History The airport was commissioned in 1955 although operations started a few years earlier. In 1974, Infraero started to operate the airport. In 2010 the government of the state of Goiás, in order to encourage tourism and aviation reduced the tax on petrol from 15% to 3%. After such a reduction there was some interest from airlines to build a hub at Santa Genoveva airport but operational limitations prevented the immediate implementation of such a plan. The old passenger terminal was capable of handling 600,000 passengers/year but in its last few years it had been operating beyond its capacity: in 2015 it handled more than 5 times its capacity. On May 9, 2016, a new passenger terminal located on the opposite side of the old and across the runway was opened. It is capable of handling 6,3 million passengers/year. Azul Conecta, formerly known as TwoFlex Aviação Inteligente, is a domestic and regional airline based in Jundiaí, Brazil, established in 2013. History Azul Conecta was formed as TwoFlex on April 1, 2013 as a result of the merger of Two Táxi Aéreo and Flex Aero Táxi Aéreo. Between August 2016 and June 2019, TwoFlex operated wet lease flights on behalf of Voe Minas Gerais, a State-run project that connected cities within the State of Minas Gerais to the State capital Belo Horizonte. TwoFlex was the only operator for the duration of this program, which was discontinued on June 30, 2019. Presidente Castro Pinto International Airport is the airport serving João Pessoa, Brazil located in the adjoining municipality of Santa Rita. The airport is named after João Pereira de Castro Pinto (1863-1944), a lawyer, writer and former Governor of the State of Paraíba. It is operated by AENA. History The airport was officially opened on August 20, 1957. Between February 1, 1979 and March 14, 2019 it was administrated by Infraero.
