''Napomuceno's Will'' ( pt, O testamento do Senhor Napumoceno, "The Will of Mr. Napumoceno") is a 1997 Cape Verdean drama film directed by Francisco Manso, based on the 1989 novel ''The Last Will and Testament of Senhor da Silva Araújo'' by Germano Almeida. Synopsis Napumoceno da Silva Araújo, a wealthy Cape Verde merchant, dies and unexpectedly disinherits his nephew, leaving his fortune to an illegitimate daughter. He also leaves her a collection of cassette tapes in which he tells her the story of his life, how he came from poverty to success and status, and the many women he loved along the way. ''The Last Will and Testament of Senhor da Silva Araújo'' (Portuguese: ''O Testamento do Senhor Napumoceno da Silva Araújo'', Cape Verdean Creole (Badiu): ''U Testamentu du Sinhor Napumosenu da Silva Araúju'') is a Capeverdean novel published in the Portuguese language in 1989 by Germano Almeida. It mixes humor with cruel realism, sometimes pathetic, in a modern writing favoring the free indirect style. The novel was adapted into a movie titled '' Napomuceno's Will'' in 1997 and was directed by Francisco Manso and starring Ana Firmino. The book was first published on Ilhéu Editora. Its first translation was in French and translated by Édouard Bailby by Éditions Sepia in 1995, it was later published in an English translation in 2004 by New Directions Publishing as ''The Last Will and Testament of Senhor da Silva Araújo''. Roberto Remigio Benigni (; born 27 October 1952) is an Italian actor, comedian, screenwriter and director. Cesária Évora GCIH (; 27 August 194117 December 2011), more commonly known as Cize, was a Cape Verdean singer-songwriter. She received a Grammy Award in 2004 for her album '' Voz d'Amor''. Nicknamed the "Barefoot Diva" for performing without shoes, she was known as the "Queen of Morna". Évora began singing as a young woman in bars in her hometown of Mindelo, and came to international prominence in the 1990s. Biography Early life Cesária Évora was born on 27 August 1941 in Mindelo, São Vicente, Cape Verde.
