Nandkishore Kapote
Nandkishore Kapote is Kathak Classical dancer, of Indian origin. He is a distinguished guide for a PhD programme in Tilak Tilak Maharashtra University and Sri Sri Centre for Kathak Research (SSCARK) at Sri Sri University. Academic career In 1977–78, Kapote was awarded the National Scholarship from the Cultural Department, Government of India for learning Kathak dance. He is a recognized Ph.D. guide in Kathak dance for Tilak Maharashtra University and Lalit Kala Kendra, University of Pune. Institutions & Establishments During his academic career, dr Kapote has aided in creation of multiple cultural and artistic establishments. National Institute Of Kathak Dance
National Institute of Kathak Dance, also known as Kathak Kendra, is the premier dance institution for the Indian classical dance form of Kathak, and a unit of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama, situated in New Delhi. Established in 1964, the institution is primarily dedicated to Kathak, though it also offers courses in Hindustani classical music (Vocal) and Pakhawaj and Tabla. Ram Gabale
Ram Gabale (died January 9, 2009) was an Indian filmmaker. He is well known for a number of cinematic works including social documentaries, children's films, and television serials. He started directing films in 1947. Gabale worked with critically acclaimed artists including film director V. Shantaram, Marathi writer P.L. Deshpande, and British actor and filmmaker Richard Attenborough. Gabale, originally from Kolhapur, moved to Mumbai and worked with the Rajkamal Studios. He soon obtained a break as a director at the Prabhat Studios in Pune. At Prabhat Studios, he directed his first movie Vande Mataram (1948) starring P.L. Kathak Exponents
Kathak ( hi, कथक; ur, کتھک) is one of the eight major forms of Indian classical dance. It is the classical dance from of Uttar Pradesh. The origin of Kathak is traditionally attributed to the traveling bards in ancient northern India known as Kathakars or storytellers. The term Kathak is derived from the Vedic Sanskrit word which means "story", and ''Kathakar'' which means "the one who tells a story", or "to do with stories". Wandering Kathakars communicated stories from the great epics and ancient mythology through dance, songs and music. Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune is the northwestern city limits of Pune, India. Geographically, it is located at an altitude above sea level, at a distance of about northwest of its historic centre. Uma Sharma
Uma Sharma (born 1942) is a kathak dancer, choreographer and teacher. She is also runs the Bharatiya Sangeet Sadan, Delhi, a classical dance and music academy, situated in New Delhi, founded by her father in 1946. She is most known for reviving the old classical dance form of ''Natwari Nritya'' or the Raslila of Brindavan, which later evolved into the Kathak. Kathak is based on devotional Krishna poetry of the medieval centuries and the highly cultivated court poetry of the 18th and 19th centuries which celebrated '' shringara'', the sentiment of love. Shovana Narayan
Shovana Narayan is a recognised Indian Kathak dancer and a career officer with Indian Audit and Accounts Service. She performs in India and internationally, and has been awarded the Padma Shri. She trained under Birju Maharaj. Early life and education Sadhna Bose and in Kolkata and Guru Kundal Lal in Mumbai initiated Narayan into Kathak at the age of four. She studied at Miranda House in Delhi, India, graduating with a master's degree in Physics in 1972. Vijay Ghate
Vijay Ghate (born 18 October 1964) is an Indian tabla player. He was awarded with "Padma Shri" award in 2014, the fourth highest civilian award by Government of India. Early life Ghate was born in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. He started learning his art at an early age of three in Jabalpur. He then moved to Mumbai, and learned for over twelve years under Taalyogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar. The Bal Gandharva Ranga Mandir is a drama theatre with an auditorium and exhibition hall located in Shivajinagar area of Pune, India. It is named after Marathi singer and stage actor, Bal Gandharva.
