A name is a term used for identification by an external observer. They can identify a class or category of things, or a single thing, either uniquely, or within a given context. BIND () is a suite of software for interacting with the Domain Name System (DNS). Its most prominent component, named (pronounced ''name-dee'': , short for ''name daemon''), performs both of the main DNS server roles, acting as an authoritative name server for DNS zones and as a recursive resolver in the network. As of 2015, it is the most widely used domain name server software, and is the ''de facto'' standard on Unix-like operating systems. Naming is a procedure in some Westminster parliaments that provides for the speaker to temporarily remove a member of parliament who is breaking the rules of conduct of the legislature. Historically, "naming" refers to the speaker's invocation of the process by calling out the actual name of the member, breaking the convention of calling on members by the name of their constituency. Processes to name a member are present in the lower houses of the British, Australian, Canadian, and New Zealand parliaments, and the legislatures of some Australian states and Canadian provinces. The Named is an industrial metal project led by Rabbit Junk frontman JP Anderson, formed in 2009. History Originally intended as a revival of turn-of-the-century digital hardcore group The Shizit, Anderson was forced to change the name of the project after legal threats from former The Shizit bandmate Brian Shrader. The Named released their self-titled album (originally released as ''The Shizit'') in 2009 under D-Trash. The Named
''The Named'' is a fantasy novel written by Marianne Curley. It is the first book in the Guardians of Time Trilogy. Ethan is a member of The Named who is training his new apprentice, Isabel, under the guidance of his mentor Arkarian. Narration As with all of the Guardians of Time books, the prologue is written in third person while all the chapters are written in first person, switching points of view between the two narrators.
