Namaqualand Daisies
Namaqualand Daisies is a South Africa field hockey club. The club was established in 2016, and is one of 6 established to compete in South African Hockey Association's new premier domestic competition, Premier Hockey League. History The Namaqualand Daisies have been inspired by famous tourist areas in Namaqua National Park in Northern Cape. Premier Hockey League (South Africa)
The Premier Hockey League (PHL) is a field hockey competition organised by South African Hockey Association. Format All matches for PHL will be played at the Randburg Hockey Stadium in Johannesburg – on a Saturday and Sunday. The event consists of a league stage and a play-off stage: Each team will play each other once in the league stage. This means each team will play 5 games. The teams who finish 5th and 6th respectively in the log, at the end of the league stage, will be knocked out of the competition. The top four teams in the log will progress to the semi-finals. The losing semi-finalists will play-off for 3rd and 4th respectively and the winning semi-finalists will progress to the finals of the men’s and women’s competitions. The team identities have been inspired by famous tourist areas in South Africa and are representative of all nine Provinces. Career Under–21 Wood made her debut for the South Africa U–21 in 2022 at the FIH Junior World Cup in Potchefstroom. National team Wood made her senior international debut for South Africa in 2019, during a test series against Namibia in Randburg. In May 2022, she was named in the squad for the FIH World Cup in Terrassa and Amsterdam. ''Dimorphotheca sinuata'', the glandular Cape marigold, Namaqualand daisy, or orange Namaqualand daisy; syn. ''Dimorphotheca aurantiaca'' hort.) is a species of plants native to southern Africa. It is also widely cultivated as an ornamental and naturalized in parts of the United States, primarily California and Arizona. ''Dimorphotheca sinuata'' grows in western South Africa and in Namibia, very often in places receiving winter rainfall but also in sandy deserts. It flowers early in spring.
